Roger Slack, vice president of
events at Lowe's Motor Speedway, has earned two national awards
recognizing
the 2007 season at The Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway.
Officials of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum announced
today that Slack has been selected to receive the North American 410
Sprint
Car Poll's Promoter of the Year award. The annual award is determined
by a
voting panel of media members, promoters, sanctioning body officials
and
manufacturers involved in sprint car racing across the country.
During 2007, Slack and the Lowe's Motor Speedway staff presented
three World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series races at The Dirt Track. The
Rite
Aid Outlaw Showdown in May was run in front of a sold-out crowd of more
than
14,000 while the inaugural World of Outlaws World Finals in November
attracted 138 sprint cars and late models and filled the grandstands
for two
nights of racing.
Slack was also recently honored as the World of Outlaws Late Model
Series Promoter of the Year during the sanctioning body's year-end
awards
banquet in Orlando, Fla. The Dirt Track presented four World of Outlaws
Late
Model Series races this season, including the Circle K Colossal 100 and
the
inaugural World Finals, and Slack and his staff were selected from
among the
42 tracks that hosted the nomadic series.
"Roger has poured his heart and soul into organizing, promoting and
presenting events at The Dirt Track since it opened in 2000," said H.A.
"Humpy" Wheeler, president and general manager of Lowe's Motor
Speedway. "He
and several other members of our staff put a tremendous amount of work
into
those events, and it's rewarding to see their efforts recognized by
those in
the dirt track industry."
The Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway opens its 2008 season April
18-19 with the third annual Circle K Colossal 100, a $50,000-to-win
late
model spectacular sanctioned by the World of Outlaws. Tickets and
information can be obtained by calling the speedway ticket office at
