Lernerville Drivers Already Tuning Up for 2008

Posted by Asst' PR Director  |  12/15/07

While the holidays are fast approaching, many Lernerville Speedway drivers are preparing for a return to action in 2008. A lot of information can be found on local racing message boards, garages and shops all around Western Pennsylvania, but you must always take those tidbits with a grain of salt. The information you are about to read is derived directly from the drivers or car owners themselves.

We start in the Commercial Truck & Trailer Sprint Car division with two of the winningest drivers being honored for the 2007 campaigns.

Last Saturday December 8, Ed Lynch Jr. received the highly coveted Charles & George Findlay Memorial Sportsmanship Award at the Twin State Racing Annual Banquet.

In recognition of his Northeast leading 21 feature wins, (including five at Lernerville Speedway), Rod George has been invited to attend the Motorsports Show hosted by Area Auto Racing News in Atlantic City January 18-20.

The Lernerville Speedway wishes to congratulate both drivers and is honored to be the Friday Night home track to both of these prestigious drivers.

The father-son team of Terry and Carl Bowser will both be back in action in 2008 with brand new 08 Maxim Chassis. Carl and Mike Shick are currently working on a new, but not unfamiliar paint scheme for the 2008 season.

Speaking of the Bowser Racing team, they recently sold their previous hauler to Brent Matus. On most nights the Matus Racing team usually has two and sometimes three cars in competition, so they need all the room they can get!

Reigning back-to-back Track Champion Kevin Schaeffer will welcome a new family member the next time he rolls into Victory Lane, as he and his wife Brandy are expecting their second child in February of 2008. On the racing side of the spectrum, both of his chassis have been “reworked” by Trevis Craft and the motors are being freshened by Kriner’s Racing Engines.

In the Friedman’s Freshmarkets Late Models, after a brief return in 2007, John Flinner will be back to full-time action in 2008 behind the wheel of the #48 owned by John Johnson who has ordered two brand new Rocket Chassis. Look out Alex Ferree!!

John Mollick, who got faster throughout the 2007 season, has also ordered a brand new Rocket Chassis. With his steady improvement and brand new Rocket under him, expect to see Jammin’ John in Victory lane in 2008!

Another fast improving driver, John Garvin Jr. is headed south to Florida in February to get more seat time in before the 2008 Lernerville Season starts. We wish John and the Garvin team much success during Speedweeks.

All signs point to Bachman Racing being a one car team in 2008 with Todd behind the wheel of a new Rocket Chassis.

One team perhaps going the other direction, from a one car team to a two car team, is Pitkavish Racing. Jim stopped into the speedway office recently and reported that they have one car completely ready to go and are working on preparing a second car. No word if Dave Murdick will be back behind the wheel or if Jimmy and/or another driver will be piloting a new Rocket Chassis.

Gary Lyle’s familiar #10 is just about ready to roll for 2008 and the team is very much looking forward to a return to the front of the pack in the new season!

All quiet on the Ferrante Motor Cars Modified front . . .
In the Advance Auto Parts Pure Stock division, Reigning Track Champion Mike Pegher Jr. is moving up to the Crate Late Model division and may only be running a limited schedule in his Pure Stock. The Crate Late Model is a former Lynn Geisler car and the teams are working together on the car in Lynn Geisler’s race shop. Mike could not have found a better mentor than one of Lernerville’s all time greatest in Lynn Geisler!

2007 Rookie Eric Piotrowski is looking to make a big leap forward in 2008. To that end, Eric has purchased a motor from Ingram Engines and is working with Chris Schneider on his chassis and setup. The Schneider/Ingram combination has been the route to success for many local pure stock drivers, Eric hopes to follow their collective paths to Victory Lane in 2008.
