Bridgeport Speedway gears up for action packed 2008 season

BRIDGEPORT, NJ (December 16, 2007) - Since the end of the 2007 racing season, Bridgeport Speedway management officials have been discussing plans for the 2008 season. Although the schedule needs some fine-tuning, officials have agreed on the overall framework for the upcoming racing season.

In 2008, the regular Saturday night racing schedule will include the Big Block Modifieds, 358 Sportsman, GM Crate 1 Cars and Outlaw Stock Cars on the 5/8 mile dirt oval. Special appearances by the URC Sprints and Garden State Vintage Car Club will be scheduled as well. The very popular Smashmasters Demolition Derby will make multiple Saturday night appearances as well in 2008. Additional Saturday night special events are still in the planning phase.

Friday night racing will have 600cc Micro Sprints, 270cc Micro Sprints and 4 Cylinder Stock Cars on the 1/4 mile Speedway from April through September. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, 358 Crate 2 Cars and Bridgeport Limited Sprints will join the Friday night schedule racing on the ultra fast 5/8 mile speedway. The Limited Sprints will run on Saturday nights before Memorial Day and after Labor Day. Also, the Limited Sprints will be added for 1 or 2 Saturday nights in the summer. With new motor rules developed for the 2008 season, this division is expected to grow and even re-kindle some interest from past drivers. The new motor rules for the Limited Sprint division have been posted at www.thenewbridgeportspeedway.com.

Once again, Bridgeport Speedway will host special midweek shows in 2008. The George Wingate Classic will be held in June and the Multiple Sclerosis Race for the Cure will be scheduled in late July. Another midweek show is being discussed for August and promises to be a unique event. End of the season racing specials will include the Atlantic Coast Weekend event in October and the Turkey Chase Weekend event in November. Speedway management is considering a different format for one of these events.

In other Bridgeport Speedway news, many marketing opportunities are available for the action packed 2008 season including sponsorships of race nights, divisions and special events. Interested parties may contact track promoter Jessica James at JJames27@aol.com for additional information on programs designed for any type of budget. Also, Bridgeport Speedway and New Egypt Speedway management have had discussions, which have brought the two tracks closer to cooperating in scheduling unopposed opening nights in 2008. In addition, both tracks have spoken about a possible new series that would crown a New Jersey State Modified Champion.

Billed ‘The Fastest Dirt Track in the East’, Bridgeport Speedway is a high-banked 5/8th mile dirt oval, featuring a dirt 1/4 mile oval embedded in the center, and is located in Southern New Jersey -- just minutes from Pennsylvania and Delaware at exit 14 off of I-295.
