The 2007 Mid-Atlantic Championship Series season will officially come to a close on Saturday, January 5th, 2008 at the Rustic Lodge in Indiana, PA. The night will start off with social fellowship when the doors open at 5:30 until dinner is served at approximately 6:15pm. Dinner will be a buffet consisting of an Autumn Dinner Salad for an appetizer followed by two delectable entrée’s of hand carved Steamship of Beef and Chicken Kiev including Penne Pasta with Tomato/Basil sauce, Julienne Vegetables and Garlic Red Skinned Potatoes. Dessert features a Vanilla ice-cream crepe with chocolate and caramel sauce.
Following dinner, presentations will be made for each of the drivers that finished within the top ten of the 2007 championship point standings. York Haven, PA’s Jason Covert will be honored as the first back-to-back champion which is the first time that has occurred since the ’99-’00 seasons. Covert captured four series victories en route to his second consecutive title collecting over $42,000 in race winnings. ‘Hot’ Rod Conley of Wheelersburg, OH enjoyed his best ever season with the series finishing second in the championship standings while the 2005 Champion Mike Balzano finished third. Doug Drown will make the trek from Wooster , OH to be honored for finishing fourth with the tour and Franklin , PA ’s Matt Lux will be rewarded for his triumph as 2007 Rookie of the Year as well as his fifth place finish in the final point standings.
The rest of the top ten drivers include Robbie Blair of Titusville , PA , Jack Pencil of Bedford , PA , Chuck Clise of Frostburg , MD , Jim Bernheisel of Lebanon , PA , and Dan Stone of Thompson , PA will also be recognized during the festivities. Other awards to be given away are the AlturnaMats® “Shock the Clock” Time Trail Award presented by Sue Stevenson Photography, the AlturnaMats® Dash King Award presented WRISCO Aluminum, and the WRISCO Aluminum Event Hard Award.
The Rustic Lodge is located approximately .5 miles east of the Indiana Mall on State Route 286. Tickets are $40.00 per person. No tickets will be sold at the door. All banquet reservations must be submitted by December 27, 2007. Banquet reservations can be made by calling the MACS office at 724.465.2222. A special room discount of $84.00 will be available at the Holiday Inn, Indiana, PA.
