News From New Egypt Speedway

     New Egypt, NJ

Posted by Asst' PR Director  |  01/19/08

New Egypt, NJ - With Motorsports 2008 quickly approaching, New
Jersey’s New Egypt Speedway is highly anticipating this year’s show
in Atlantic City. NES will be well represented at the 23rd Annual
Motorsports Expo, January 18-20 at the Atlantic City Convention
Center.

Members of the New Egypt Speedway Staff will be on hand to greet the
fans as well as answer any questions about the upcoming racing
season. Many of the speedway’s drivers will also be stopping by the
NES Booth throughout the entire weekend for fans to chat with, maybe
take a picture, or even get an autograph.

“Motorsports is a great place to promote your facility with so many
racing fans all in one place over the course of three days,”
expressed track owner Bill Miscoski. “We encourage all of our fans or
any racing fans for that matter to stop on by and see what New Egypt
Speedway is all about,” Miscoski added.

There will be 2008 schedules and sponsorship packages available along
with the other necessary paperwork for those who want to get a jump
start on the season. Pit licenses, reserved pit stalls, and reserved
spectator parking spots can be purchased at the NES Booth as well.
T-shirts, flags, pictures, free passes, and candy will all be handed
out throughout the busy weekend.

Tickets for the 2007 Awards Banquet will also be available, as less
than three weeks remain before New Egypt Speedway is back under the
lights of Atlantic City at the Trump Plaza Casino & Hotel. On Friday,
February 1 the first year of operation under the B&F Racing banner
will come to a conclusion as New Egypt will crown it’s 8 track
champions from the 2007 campaign.

As for the upcoming racing season, there will be plenty of
opportunities to get your racing fix at the New Egypt Speedway in
2008. The Plumsted, New Jersey half-mile facility will host a
multitude of racing divisions throughout co-owner Bill Miscoski and
Fred Vahlsing’s second year at the helm.

For starters, a slate of 23 regular Saturday Night programs will be
the backbone of this year’s schedule. Traditionally NES has opened
their doors on the first Saturday in April. This will not be the case
in ‘08. “April is such a tricky month (weather wise) and between last
year's cold temperatures and threats of rain we decided to hold off
for a couple of weeks and open up on April 19th,” Bill Miscoski
explained. “Another reason why we’re opening a bit later is because
of our series with Bridgeport. I’ll tell you what, I’m really looking
forward to working with Bridgeport in this Dual-Track Garden State
Series,” Miscoski added. NES and Bridgeport will both be running
American Racers offering the same compounds for their drivers.

New Egypt will remain dark on April 5, while Bridgeport Speedway
opens their gates for the 2008 season. This will be considered Race
#1 in the 8 race series.

The following week NES will have it’s traditional “open practice” for
all of their teams to participate in and work out all of the bugs.
Then on April 19, the gates will swing open at NES for their opener
(Race #2) while Bridgeport will close its gates for one week of
action.

The second Dual-Track Series races at New Egypt will be held on
Saturday, July 5. “We hope to have a great holiday show on the 5th as
we’ll have fireworks, our annual modified match races and now the
Garden State Series,” Miscoski was quick to note. Bridgeport will
remain open on July 5, however their modifieds will have the night
off as New Egypt hopes to add to its modified field that night.

Race #3 at NES will be a mid-week affair. Currently August 20th will
be New Egypt’s only mid-week show of the year. Race #4 will be held
during the “Roctoberfest Weekend” which takes place during the first
weekend in October. Bridgeport’s other three races will take place
during one of their mid-week specials, Saturday-August 23 (the
modifieds will not be on the card that Saturday at NES), and their
annual “Turkey Chase Weekend”.

The ever-popular URC sprints will once again make five New Egypt
appearances throughout the ‘08 season. Those five dates fall on April
26, June 21, July 12, August 30, and October 4.

The ARDC Midgets who are also enthusiastically embraced at NES will
get to strut their stuff on two occasions this year. The club’s first
visit will come on May 31 while their second appearance will take
place on August 16.

Fan-favorite Twin 20s for the mighty modifieds can be seen on two
different occasions this coming year…Memorial Day Weekend on
Saturday, May 24 and September 13.

The “Friends of Mike” event will be back for a third straight year,
however this time with a different make over. The last two years
found modified winners Brian Godown taking home $5,000 and Keith
Hoffman pocketing over $7,000 for their efforts. This year the
"F.O.M." race will call for 4-20 lap modified features. It’s very
hard to run a show with four separate payouts that can satisfy the
drivers for their efforts. If there was ever a night to run 4-20
lappers this would be a perfect fit. New Egypt Speedway has the best
fans around and what better way to reward them with four modified
feature events,” offered event organizer Danny Serrano.

NES will continue to have three full-time divisions along with three
semi-regular classes. This year’s non-sanctioned big block modifieds
will once again remain as the track’s headline division. Several
small block teams will be competing with the big blocks in ‘08 now
that the track has reinstated a small block weight break that has
been absent for the past two seasons.

NES has always been known for its healthy Sportsman division car
counts and 2008 looks to be no different. Defending track champion
Willie Osmun is set to defend his title as he will be trying to hold
off some of the best in the business.

The Super Stock division can be classified as one of the toughest
classes to win a race in at the speedway. 2007 champion George
Quinlan will look to repeat over the likes of Billy Bauer, Mick
Search, and a host of others.

The SS Sprints (Super Sportsman) will be on the racing card 14 times
throughout the season as four-time defending track champion Art Liedl
will once again defend his title.

The Crate 1 Sportsman and Outlaw Stocks will return for both their
second year of competition on 14 occasions as well. With many
interested drivers inquiring around, these two divisions look to
seriously add to their car count from last year. The Crates and
Outlaw Stocks will run features only due to the fact that several
divisions will be competing on the same night. The Sportsman Rookies
will return as several drivers have contacted the speedway to confirm
their 2008 status.

The newly-designed Tobias SpeedSTR Midgets are scheduled to appear
twice this year with dates on June 28 and July 19.

This year NES will also have its share of Sunday afternoon events.
“We are excited about our Sunday shows just as much as we are with
our Saturday events,” Miscoski asserted. For starters, NES has set a
seven-race series that is being dubbed as “Small Car Sundays”. These
shows will consist of the Klascar Legends, the 600 Modified Series,
the 600cc micro sprints, and vintage cars. “They might all be small
cars but they can get around New Egypt pretty good,” Miscoski added.
It should be noted that Forty-four different drivers attempted to
qualify in the four times that the micro sprints appeared at NES in
’07

After two successful Demolition Derby events last year, NES has
scheduled 5 more Demo Derbys for the 2008 campaign. Joining the Demo
Derbys will be Enduro races and the 600cc micro sprints.

The Garden State Vintage Stock Car Club will be making five visits to
NES throughout the season (two Saturday dates and three Sunday dates)
for those who love to see the cars of yesteryear once again circle
the track. There will also be six “Open” dates for the Vintage cars
that will be held on Sunday afternoons.

There will be many theme nights at the speedway in ’08. The
traditional “Scout & Little League Night”, “Banner Night”, “Father’s
Day Races”, “Powder Puffs”, a “Pit Crew Challenge”, and the very
popular “Match Races” for the Modifieds, Sportsman, and Super Stocks
will all take place in this year’s busy schedule.

Rounding out all the action will be the “Mud in the Pines” series.
There are seven down-n-dirty Mud Bogs scheduled on the ’08 calendar.
A variety of 4x4 trucks, mud skippers, and quads will all be trying
to make their way through the New Egypt mud on Sunday afternoons.
New Egypt Speedway will also be building a Quarter Midget facility
for the racers of tomorrow. The plans have been drawn up and the
construction of the Quarter Midget track will soon begin. NES
tentatively plans on racing the the smaller track on Saturday late
mornings and early afternoon. More news will follow about the new
track as the off- season continues.
