SPONSORS ADDED FOR SATURDAY NIGHT SERIES.
MECHANICSBURG, PA -- When race fans think of the Saturday Night
Series at Williams Grove Speedway, they think first of the ultra
competitive super sportsman division and then the popular limited late
models. But two other divisions have been responsible for some exciting
racing in the past with the promise of more to come in 2008.
The street stocks and the four-cylinder stock cars will play an
important role in making the Saturday Night Series a success this season
and two area businesses will reward the race teams for their efforts.
L. B. Smith Ford will sponsor the street stock division this year
and Credit Connection Auto Sales will back the point fund for the
4-cylinder stock cars.
Located on Market Street in Lemoyne, L. B. Smith Ford has been in
business for 67 years and is recognized by Ford Motor Company as the #1
volume Ford Dealer in Central Pennsylvania.
"L. B. Smith Ford is proud to be a sponsor for the street stock
division at Williams Grove Speedway in 2008," said company spokesman
Brett Corcoran.
With locations in Carlisle and Harrisburg, the Credit Connection
name has been associated with super sportsman racing for some time since
Credit Connection's Dain Hursh fields a sportsman car for J. R. Fry.
"I wanted to help this class along," said Hursh of the 4-cylinder
division. "These guys are out there week in and week out putting on
great show and they deserve to be rewarded."
The 4-cylinder stock cars will make 12 appearances at Williams
Grove Speedway in 2008 and will be part of the Saturday Night Series
opener on March 29.
The street stock teams will have to wait until April 12 to make
their 2008 debut. That will be the first of 13 dates for the street
stocks at Williams Grove this season.
Sprint car racing will be the sole attraction when Williams Grove
Speedway opens its 2008 season on Sunday afternoon, February 24.
