BRP/Hoosier Race Tires Modified Tour Media Relations

Posted by Asst' PR Director  |  01/28/08

The BRP/Hoosier Race Tires Modified Tour honored the top 20 drivers in the Series 2007 point standings with an Open House and Social Gathering on Saturday, January 26th at Big Daddy’s Speed Center. For the third consecutive year it was a “King” who took the home the Series’ top honors as rising young star Russell King of Bristolville, OH captured the title his father, Rex, had held in 2005 and 2006. The personable college freshman was quick to credit his parents (Rex and Sis King) his grandparents and Crew Chief John Zdelar for all of their hard work during the year. In addition Russell also acknowledged his brother, Rex Jr., who loaned him his racecar for the event at the Tyler County Speedway after his ride was destroyed at the Lernerville Speedway on the eve of the first ever Mod Tour event at the West Virginia oval. In closing the 2007 Series Champion also announced that he will not return to defend his crown as he will be driving a Late Model in 2008.

Ron Smoker and Del Rougeux Jr. tied for the second place in the Series final standings with Brian Swartzlander and Rex King Sr. completing the top five.

Butler, PA veteran Carl Murdick captured the Series Hard Charger Award and Steve Feder, also of Butler, PA, was the Series Rookie of the Year.
