Brighton Speedway’s first ice racing event of the season was a definite success as close to 100 Four Wheelers, Snowmobiles and Endurance Cars took to the 1/3 mile iced oval on Saturday, January 26th, as part of the annual Winterfest Celebrations. Travelling from as far away as Wolfe Island these winter racing participants were pleased with the cooperation from Mother Nature and the excellent ice conditions.
“The staff and management of Brighton Speedway have been working hard to get the ice to racing condition given the milder temperatures we have been faced with. Everyone who hit the track agreed that it was fast and icy and that was what we were aiming for. Given the number of ATVs, sleds and cars that came out to celebrate Brighton Winterfest with us, shows that we are indeed meeting a need for enthusiasts in the area. We are looking forward to the event scheduled on February 9th,” said promoter Mark Rinaldi following the event.
An annual tradition at Brighton Speedway this popular Winterfest activity breaks up the long off season, and brings together everyone, starting as young as 8 years old, who wants to compete in one or more of the twelve different classes of 4 wheelers, snowmobiles and cars. A second serving of these ice races will be served up on Saturday, February 9th. Gates open at 9am and the Green Flag Flies at 11am.
