Findley Takes Home Top 5 Finish At Winter Classic
(Columbus, Mississippi) Casey Findley, driver of the Red, Grey, Blue, and Yellow #17F Open Wheel Modified, and his team headed down to the famed Bullring at Columbus, Mississippi this past Saturday for the 8th Annual Carl Hogan Honda Winter Classic.
After starting on the pole in his heat race, he hit the wall on the last lap but he was able to come away with the heat race win.
"I hit the wall pretty hard on the last lap of the heat race. There was some water up against the wall that you really couldn't see, and I got into that, but was still able to take the win in the heat race."
Casey and crew had some work to do to get the car ready for the feature, but they were able to get the car ready.
"I cost myself a little money by hitting the wall. We had to change out wheels and tires, but we was able to make the feature, and finished 4th out of 39 cars, so I'm happy about that."
Casey started on the inside of the second row in the feature race, and battled his car for a short time during the feature.
"The car was decent starting off, but it was tight in the center, and as the track took on rubber, it got a little bit worse, which made it pretty tough, so I was pretty happy with a 4th place finish. All in all, we had a pretty good weekend with us drawing the pole in the heat, winning it, and taking home 4th in the feature."
Casey also stated that it will probably be a few more weeks before he is able to race again due to his work schedule, but hopes to make it out the the Play Day at Monticello Speedway in Monticello, Arkansas in two weeks.
