The Mid-Atlantic Championship Series would like to announce their preliminary 2008 schedule. The series will open their 2008 season on April 12th with the running of the ‘Western Maryland Open 50’ at ‘The Rock, Allegany County Speedway in Cumberland, MD. From there the tour will head to Jamaica, Jamaica, VA that is, for the $7,000 to win ‘SummerSizzler II’ at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway. The following weekend the series travelers will return to Sharon Speedway in Hartford, OH on June 21st for the $5,000 to win ‘Triton 50’. The $5,000 to win, ‘Lake Erie 50’ will take place at Bobby Rohrer’s Eriez Speedway on June 22nd.
The series will spend their Independence Day weekend at Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, OH for a $5,000 to win event on July 4th and a $10,000 to win event on the 5th of July. The MACS contingent will make their second visit to Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway on August 9th for the Ernie Shelton’s Annual ‘USA 100®’. The 2008 version of the ‘USA 100®’ will have a bit of a twist as the MACS Super Late Models will take off their roofs and go topless for the $10,000 top prize.
After a very successful first visit in 2007, the series will return to Hilltop Speedway in Millersburg, OH for the first of two 2008 visits on August 22nd for a $5,000 to win show. The $7,000 to win ‘Cleveland Brothers CAT Jim Shank Memorial presented by DirtTrackDigest.com’ will be held on August 29th at Don Martin’s Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, PA. Tickets for that event can purchased online at www.lernerville.com. The series will then make their first appearance at Hesston Speedway in Hesston, PA since 2006 on August 30th for the ‘MACS Attack IV’ 50-lap, $5,000 to win event.
Hilltop Speedway will then welcome back the series on September 27th for the second time in 2008 with a $5,000 to win show. 2008 will come to a close on October 3rd and 4th at ‘The Rock’ Allegany County Speedway for the 13th running of the ‘Big Kahuna’. This year’s version will be a $12,000 to win two-day event. Jeff Geesey, Series Event Coordinator commented, "More events will be added as we go through the rest of the late winter months and early spring.”
