MOSCA, Colo. (Feb. 4) – Promoter Kelly Buesig was impressed by the
car count at her Alamosa Motor Speedway when the EQ Cylinder Heads
Wild West Tour visited there last summer.
She’s equally impressed by the number of Modified drivers who have
already registered to compete regularly at the newly-IMCA sanctioned
track in 2008. Opening night at Alamosa is scheduled for May 10 and
Saturday shows are on the schedule through Sept. 20.
“It’s going to be fun having the tour drivers back. We’re excited
about having them here for two shows over the Memorial Day Weekend,”
Buesig said. “Drivers who follow the Wild West Modified Tour and race
at other tracks, like Aztec Speedway or Thunder Mountain Speedway,
can run for points here, too. We’ve already more than doubled our
Modified car count from 10 last year to 25 this season and that’s a
great thing.”
Buesig’s family has a long background in both drag and circle track
racing. Her father, Jerry Sr., bought the 3/8-mile dirt oval at Mosca
last year and her brother Jerry Jr. and son Clifton King will head
the tech inspection crew this season.
Kelly and Jerry Jr. have both competed in the open wheel class, while
Clifton plans to get in some laps in the class himself.
The Wild West Tour comes to town for Saturday and Sunday, May 24-25
events. While working to build car count numbers at their weekly
programs, the Buesigs are also looking at bringing in new competitors
with the future addition of a drag strip and motocross track.
The south central Colorado speedplant has been designated as a border
track by IMCA, which allows will driver to earn SuperFlow Western
Region or SuperFlow Central Region points.

Engine Pro spreads awards around IMCA regions
WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (Feb. 4) – Engine Pro spreads contingency awards
around the country again this season, to drivers in IMCA’s Modified,
Stock Car and Hobby Stock divisions.
A total of $6,300 in product/service certificates will be given by
the Wheat Ridge, Colo.-based internal engine parts wholesaler group,
based on regional standings in all three classes.
Top eligible drivers in all five Modified regions, both Stock Car
regions and both Hobby Stock regions receive $300 product
certificates, with $200 to the runners-up and $100 for third. Tenth
and 20th place eligible drivers earn $50 certificates. Drivers in
all three divisions must provide proof of purchase of Engine Pro
products; Modified drivers are also required to display two Engine
Pro decals on their race car.
Drivers accepting the most engine claims in the respective classes
during the 2008 regular point season also receive complete claimer
engine kits.
“There are 244 designated Engine Pro machine shops listed on the
Engine Parts Group website, and doing business with any of them will
make Modified, Stock Car or Hobby Stock members eligible for year end
awards,” IMCA Marketing Director Kevin Yoder said. “Be sure and keep
your receipts until the end of the season to set yourself up for
discounted machine work next winter.”
