BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY GEARING UP FOR A FANTASTIC 2008 RACING SEASON
BRIDGEPORT, NJ (February 10, 2008) - Anticipation and excitement is building in Southern New Jersey with the 2008 Bridgeport Speedway racing season drawing closer to a start. “I can’t wait for the 2008 racing season,” said Track Promoter Jessica James. “With new race teams planning to join our current roster of great drivers and the 2008 race schedule, opening day can’t get here fast enough and now we have scheduled “Gear Up Day”!
“Gear Up Day” will occur on Saturday March 15 from 10:00 AM till 4:00 PM at the Speedway. Pit licenses, pit parking spots and track tires will be available for purchase. Also, Bridgeport Speedway tech staff will be on hand on March 15 for competitors wishing to bring their racecars to the track to complete mandatory New Jersey Safety Tech Inspection. Currently, all 2008 pit license applications, class rules and 1099 forms are now available for download by visiting the Bridgeport Speedway website at www.thenewbridgeportspeedway.com and may be returned to the office upon completion. 2008 Rookie GM Sportsman competitors are reminded to contact Jessica James at 302-875-4196 to register for the upcoming season.
Following “Gear Up Day”, practice sessions will take place. Practice for the 5/8 mile speedway will occur on Saturday March 29 with the Pit Gates slated to open at 9:00 AM. 1/4 mile speedway practice will occur on Friday April 4 with the Pit Gates opening at 5:00 PM.
The 2008 racing season gets underway with the opening event of the Bridgeport – New Egypt Modified Challenge Series (30 lap feature- $3000 to win) on Saturday April 5 at 6:00 PM. This eight race series for the Big Block Modifieds will carry its own point chase. All Big Block Modifieds attempting to qualify on opening night will receive 50 competition points toward the 2008 Bridgeport Modified Point chase as well. Also, the 358 Sportsman, GM Sportsman, Rookie GM Sportsman and Outlaw Stocks will have their opening events on April 5. Additional Bridgeport – New Egypt Modified Challenge races to take place at Bridgeport Speedway are scheduled for Tuesday June 24 (Wingate Classic 40 laps - $4000 to win); Saturday August 23 (30 Laps - $3000 to win); and the series champion will be crowned at the final race on Turkey Chase Weekend November 8 and 9.
Bridgeport Speedway’s Friday night 1/4 mile racing season will kickoff on April 11at 7:00 PM. The 600cc Micro Sprints and 270cc Micro Sprints will be racing in 25 lap $500 to win events on their opening night. Also, the popular 4 Cylinder Stock Cars and Slingshots will be in action.

Billed ‘The Fastest Dirt Track in the East’, Bridgeport Speedway is a banked 5/8th mile dirt oval, featuring a dirt 1/4 mile oval embedded in the center, and is located in Southern New Jersey -- just minutes from Pennsylvania and Delaware at exit 14 off of I-295.
