The 25th Anniversary Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints Welcomes Mike Mallett as Head Announcer.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The 25th Anniversary Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints (ESS) would like to welcome Mike Mallett as the newest addition to the staff. Mike will be the head announcer at all ESS events joining each track’s announcer in keeping the fans informed and entertained while some of the best drivers to wheel the winged machines perform.

The Baldwinsville, N.Y. resident brings a wealth of talent behind the mike with an ear catching style of his own. Being the head announcer at the Fonda and Utica-Rome Speedways for the past two seasons, he will now take is act on the road. The 2008 season will be a busy one for the 27 year old, not only will he be keeping his head announcing role at Utica-Rome, he will sit side by side with Bill Foley at the Fulton Speedway on Saturday nights when he’s not chasing the stars and cars of ESS. After a fun filled two years at Fonda, he will hand over the announcing chores to Paul Szmal until ESS returns to the “Track of Champions on July 26th”.

“I’m really looking forward to traveling around with all the teams in ESS. I’ll be able to get to see new tracks and also go to different parts of the Northeast and Canada.” stated Mike. “I spent a weekend with them in September and just had a ball. Everyone in ESS just likes to have fun while at the races and after, it will be a cool change for me. The ESS drivers are just some of the best in sprint car racing and it will be exciting to bring some of the action to the fans.”

Not only will Mike head the announcing duties, the nightly race reports will also be penned by him as well as pre and post-race interviews for Michael Ellis and MRE Productions, ESS’ videographer. “Having Mike aboard just brings us to the next level. Having your own announcer will make the program run just bit more smoother and it will also give the fans an added insight to ESS.” ESS President explains. “He’s a great journalist with Area Auto Racing News and with Mike doing our race reports as well, it frees up Dean (Reynolds) to do more race night duties.”

The 25th Anniversary tour that is sponsored by Lucas Oil boasts a total of 31 dates and will kick off on Saturday night, April 12th with ESS making its return to the Black Rock Speedway. The curtain will be brought down on October 18th with the first ever Can-Am Challenge with the Southern Ontario Sprints at the Brockville Ontario Speedway. Steve Poirier, Jeff VanDusen, Lance Yonge, Jeff Cook, Alain Bergeron and a slew of some 30 more top chauffeurs will fill the pits on each and every night is what expects to be one of the most competitive tours in the 25 year history of ESS presenting “America’s Race Cars”.
