Craig Dollansky Leading Qwik Liner Cup Standings After Four Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Events
CONCORD, NC — MARCH 3, 2008 — Riding a wave of success with a new team, Craig Dollansky has opened the 2008 Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series season fast … really fast.
In fact, following the season opening Alltel DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park and Saturday’s night feature at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix, Dollansky is atop the leaderboard for the Qwik Liner Cup, a competition that benefits drivers for their efforts in time trials.
The Qwik Liner Cup Championship celebrates the 20th anniversary of Qwik Liner by rewarding the top Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series time trial qualifier over the first 13 races. Through the first four events of the season nobody has been consistently faster than Dollansky, who has earned 17 points by timing in either first or second each race in his Woodward/Dollansky Auto Value Maxim. Five points are earned for setting the fastest time of the night decreasing to one point for the fifth-fastest time. No points are awarded for times beyond fifth place.
Shane Stewart, who took over the Roth Motorsports JEI this season, is second with 10 points after posting quick times in the Alltel DIRTcar Nationals finale and on Saturday night at Manzanita Speedway.
Jason Meyers, a already a two-time feature winner this season in his GLR Investments KPC, is third with 7 points after earning Qwik Liner points in three of the first four races.
Barring any weather postponements, the Qwik Liner Cup Championship will be decided on May 2 at U.S. 36 Raceway, a lightning fast high-banked oval where Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws drivers can post qualifying laps that last less than 10 seconds.
