Kerry Madsen has Strong Weekend in Australia

Concord, NC— March 8, 2008--By: Tony Veneziano, World of Outlaws PR Director

Kerry Madsen, the reigning Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year, returned to Australia this weekend for the two night King of Wings event at Perth Motorplex and turned in two very solid performances.

The native of St. Mary’s, NSW, who is currently sixth in the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship points, finished seventh or better each night, including a strong third-place performance on Saturday night that saw him charge from the 14th starting spot on the grid.

With points from the first night of racing used to determine the line-ups for the heat races on Saturday night, Madsen found himself in the first heat, where he finished sixth. In the 30-lap A-Feature he passed more cars than any other driver to earn the final spot on the podium, in the event won by Robbie Farr.

On the first night of the event, Madsen finished seventh in the preliminary feature. After some trouble in time trials, he used a fourth-place finish in the first heat to earn a spot in the second dash, where he finished fifth to earn the 10th starting spot in the main event.

Madsen won both nights of the Kings of Wings in 2007 and has three wins in his last five starts at the track.

Headquartered in Roanoke, Va., Advance Auto Parts is the second-largest retailer of automotive aftermarket parts, accessories, batteries, and maintenance items in the United States, based on store count and sales.
