2008 Rule Adjustments
EFFECTIVE: December 20, 2007

DIRTcar Modified style bodies and chassis:
Identification plate (section 5.2.1): A reminder that all frames built in 2005 and thereafter must
have a manufacturer’s unique serial number plate prominently attached by welding on the left
side front roll cage upright. The letters and or numbers shall not exceed 8 in number and be 1/2’’
in height. Frames not in compliance will be permitted until July 1.
Nose and scoop (section 4.10.10):
Both hood and nose may have 2” maximum lip up on both sides following the contour of the body.
Both lips must be symmetrical. The hood and nose must be centered with the frame.
Rear Bumper (section 5.17.7)
No Speedway Bumpers. Rear bumper must have at least one brace on each side.
DIRTcar Big Block Division
1. 2007 rules will remain unchanged in 2008.
DIRTcar 358-Modified: All 2007 rules will remain unchanged in 2007 with the following
exceptions:
1. Brodix Spec Aluminum Cylinder Heads
No work allowed on Brodix aluminum cylinder heads. Head must remain as
manufactured with the following accepted: A justifiable and reasonable enlargement of
valve seat concentric to the valve guide as the result of a valve job is permitted limited to
1/32” into the aluminum.
2. Weight:
Only two weights will be allowed.
a. Cast Iron Open head option remains 2550lbs
b. Brodix Spec Aluminum Option will be limited to 2400 lbs.
c. There will no longer be a 2350lb option for the spec intake and header
option. Effective March 8, 2008, the 2350lb. spec option will be legal in
2008. The rule reads:Brodix spec aluminum heads with a maximum of
one (1) degree angle mill with a spec Brodix cast aluminum intake
manifold Part #HV1000 is allowed. No matching or porting of heads
and manifold. Both must remain as manufactured by Brodix. Steel oil
pan only. Schoenfeld steel headers only. Four (4) primary pipes going
into one collector. Part #1124BV must be the only header used for this
cylinder head option. No stainless or tri-y’s allowed. No merge
collectors allowed. No ceramic coatings. With this option, minimum
allowed weight must be 2350 lbs. (tsp).
3. Carburetor:
The use of the 650 cfm Holley 4150 HP part number 80541-1 is permitted.
Carburetor must remain "Box Stock”, but may be adjusted using only Holley
replacement parts. Adjustments allowed include: Jets, Bleeds, Needle and Seat,
Emulsion Bleeds, Power Valves, Accelerator Pump Nozzles and Accelerator Pump
Cams.
Physical alterations of carburetor parts (Boosters, Throttle Plates, Throttle Body,
Shafts, Metering Blocks, etc.), or alterations by machining or reshaping are not
permitted. The use of epoxy or coatings of any kind is strictly prohibited.
The use of the Holley 4777 carburetor will still be permitted under the same rules as
2007.
DIRTcar Sportsman: All 2007 rules will remain unchanged in 2008 with the following exceptions:
1. GM Crate Engines:
The use of GM Crate engine part #88958602 is mandatory in DIRTcar Sportsman
events. For select weekly events, some tracks have petitioned DIRTcar and been
granted permission to continue to allow the open motor option for 2008. Cars
competing in Mr. DIRTcar series events at all tracks may only run the crate engine.
2. Carburetor:
The use of the 650 cfm Holley 4150 HP part number 80541-1 is permitted ON
CRATE ENGINE CARS ONLY. Carburetor must remain "Box Stock”, but may be
adjusted using only Holley replacement parts. Adjustments allowed include: Jets,
Bleeds, Needle and Seat, Emulsion Bleeds, Power Valves, Accelerator Pump
Nozzles and Accelerator Pump Cams.
Physical alterations of carburetor parts (Boosters, Throttle Plates, Throttle Body,
Shafts, Metering Blocks, etc.), or alterations by machining or reshaping are not

UMP DIRTcar Pro Stock: All 2007 rules will remain unchanged in 2008 with the following

1. Open Motor Option:
The use of Open Motor Option engines will be permitted for use in 2008.
