FOCUSES OPEN AT VENTURA SATURDAY
USAC’s 2008 Ford Focus competition opens Saturday at Ventura (Calif.) Raceway, signaling the 402nd race since Ford Focus racing debuted six years ago.
Nic Faas, winner of the 2007 California Dirt Ford Focus championship, has since graduated to the USAC/CRA Sprint car series, where he finished second to Danny Sheridan in last Saturday night’s 30-lap race at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway. Three of Faas’ four 2007 feature wins came at Ventura.
Dennis Howell and Nick Carlson, who were second and third in last year’s California Dirt standings, both won at Ventura in 2007, Carlson scoring twice, while other 2007 feature winners at the 1/5-mile dirt oval were Robby Josett and Garrett Hansen. Josett was named USAC’s 2007 California Ford Focus “Rookie of the Year.”
Saturday night’s racing program will conclude with a 30-lap feature.
