GROVE RAINED OUT SUNDAY -- FRIDAY NIGHT RACING MARCH 21
MECHANICSBURG, PA -- The sprint car races scheduled for Sunday
afternoon, March 16, at Williams Grove Speedway were rained out.
With a steady rain falling on Sunday morning, the decision was made
to cancel the final afternoon program of 2008.
Williams Grove Speedway will switch to Friday night racing on March
21 with sprint cars and limited (358 c.i.) sprints on the card.
The first heat is scheduled to start at 7:30.
The Sunday afternoon schedule ended with inclement weather causing
three of the four race dates to be canceled. The 25% completion rate was
in line with the previous five years when only ten of the twenty-five
scheduled Sunday afternoon dates could be completed.
A new lighting system awaits fans and competitors this week.
The lighting, along with aluminum seating which was in place for
the March 9 opener, were the major off-season improvements made to this
historic dirt track which has been in existence since 1939.
March 21 will mark the earliest night race ever at Williams Grove.
Fred Rahmer took the early lead in the Cindy Rowe Auto Glass point
standings with his opening day victory in the sprint car division.
Bass Pro Shops will sponsor this year's limited (358 c.i.) sprint
division and 2007 champion Pat Cannon will return to defend his title.
