VERNON , NY- The excitement for the Utica-Rome Speedway’s “ Victoria 200” is already building and the 2008 season has yet to begin. This year’s event will be held on May 11 at the Vernon oval as part of the Race of Champions Dart Dirt Modified Series. The sail paneled Big Block and Small Modifieds will compete for the $10,000 top prize.
Tony Steiner, of Jamesville NY , became the first official entry into the $1,000 to start Victoria 200 when his entry arrived at the speedway office last week. Steiner will be competing in his first season in the Big Block Modified ranks after spending last season in the Sportsman division at Fulton Speedway. Steiner had 12 top 10 finishes last season at Fulton and a sixth place finish in points, his rookie year in the division. Qualifying for the Victoria 200 on Mother’s Day would help start Steiner’s rookie year in the Big Block ranks on the right foot.
