Saumure & Solwold Set Sail For 2008 Alberta Sprint Tour Championship

Whitecourt, AB.

The #39c Xtreme Oilfield Technologies racing team announces Jason Solwold will be at the helm for the 2008 campaign. Solwold, who is no stranger to victory lane, will use his outstanding driving talents to help bring team owners Richard and Lana Saumure their second consecutive Alberta Sprint Tour championship. With the backing of Maxim Chassis, Shark Racing Engines as well as sponsors Scott Safety, Xtreme Oilfield Technology and Double B Logging, this will be a team to watch in the upcoming season.

Solwold is a Washington State native, raised in Mt. Vernon he currently resides in Sedro-Woolley. For 2008 he will spend a lot of time north of the border as the top wheel man for Saumure Racing. His driving resume includes track championships in both the Sportsman and 360 ranks as well as an impressive string of 8 consecutive top ten finishes with the World of Outlaws in 2007. Competing with the best in the winged sprint car ranks, the WoO driver managed 41 top ten finishes, 17 top five finishes, 36 dash appearances and a wire to wire win at Charter Raceway Park in Wisconsin. Jason is not unfamiliar with north of the border racing either, as he reined as the back to back Gold Cup Champion in Edmonton for the years of 2000-2001. Possibly his biggest win was in New Zealand at Mount Maunganui, pocketing a cool $20,000 for his efforts.

Alberta Sprint Tour director Rolly Nash was thrilled to hear that Jason Solwold would be a regular with the AST in 2008. “We have some great talent in our series and this proves that” Nash adds, “For a driver of this caliber to look at our series means a lot, and I know we have a lot of drivers that will step up to the challenge.” “The AST will only increase it stock with this announcement”. Nash continues, “We already have a great show to offer the fans with the teams that support our series, this is only going to take that to the next level”

Besides the Alberta Sprint Tour, the #39c team will travel to select 360 and 410 events during 2008 also. This is definitely a winning combination but neither team owners nor the new driver underestimate the competition within the AST. “There is some superb talent in this Canadian series and we will have to be at our best to try and repeat as champions in 2008” says Saumure “ I am sure a lot of people will look at the AST a little differently and hopefully this brings greater exposure to all the teams up here in Canada.”

The Scott Safety Alberta Sprint Tour starts the 2008 campaign at Edmonton, Alberta’s Castrol Raceway on the weekend of May 24th & 25th with the running of the WISSOTA Western Cup.
