BUSY SCHEDULE DOESN’T KEEP STEWART FROM ELDORA’S NEEDS
ROSSBURG, OH (March 19) – Tony Stewart maintains a rigorous NASCAR racing schedule and hectic sponsor fulfillment agenda, but he hasn’t let that hamper his commitment or attention to Eldora Speedway. Stewart purchased the famed facility from Earl Baltes in the fall of 2004 and since that time has held true to his word of “enhancing the facility while maintaining the experience”.
Always aware of the fan base, he has recognized the current economic situation and it’s potential affect on attendance. With that in mind, Stewart has vowed to maintain a steady level on admission prices. Only two of the events on the 2008 slate have seen a price increase, and those two were a modest $2. Additionally, the two-time NASCAR Cup champion is strongly encouraging car pooling to ease the cost of travel.
Stewart reflected upon the situation, “race fans are very important to me and Eldora Speedway. It’s no secret that the costs of operating a facility escalate yearly, but we (me and the entire staff) want to do what we can to help the fans in this temporary time of economic downturn. Keeping the admission prices level, while continuing to make improvements to the facility is one effort.”
When Eldora swings its gates open to the 2008 season on Saturday, April 5, the wingless Sprints of the United States Auto Club (USAC) will be the featured attraction, and the same $18 General Admission price tag that has been attached to that event over the past few years will remain in place. Additionally, the following weekend, (April 11 & 12) the winged Sprints of the traveling World of Outlaws (WoO) will be in town and Stewart remains steadfast with a modest $25 General Admission charge each night for those shows.
“Without a doubt, there is some concern, but racing is exciting, especially at Eldora, and we will do as much as we can to assure that folks can satisfy their thirst for action and excitement”, commented Stewart.
The complete 2008 Eldora Speedway schedule of events may be viewed at the track’s website www.eldoraspeedway.com, where tickets to the major events may also be purchased.
