Pat Ward, Billy Decker, and Larry Wight are the drivers listed, and all three will be searching for the win in the high paying event.
Pat Ward, the defending Race of Champions Dart Dirt Series champion, should be a favorite to win the event. Coming off one his best season’s to date, Ward will be a contender at his Sunday night home. Last season, Ward made a late season run to the Utica-Rome Speedway title, just to fall short with a tie for a second place in the final standings. When the dust settled, Ward had his Gypsum Express mount in victory lane three times at the fast half mile.
With racing accomplishments to numerous to list here, Billy Decker, piloting the Gypsum Wholesalers entry, should be an automatic favorite to win this year’s version of the Victoria 200. The multi-time Super DIRT Week champion won the last Victoria 200 held at Fulton Speedway, capturing the big win last season.
Although just a rookie in the Modified division, 15 year old Larry Wight has sent a message to fellow competitors that he will be a contender this season. At the recent Selinsgrove Speedway (Pa.)Race of Champions event, Wight charged from the back of his heat twice, once with one lap to go, only to denied a qualifying a spot at the line. After qualifying comfortably in his consolation event, Wight ran the outside line where few veterans dared to tread until motor problems sidelined his fine run. With a little patience and luck, Wight’s career could be off to a flying start with a win in the Victoria 200.
