Tazewell, TN (March 24th, 2008) - The $3,000 to win 3rd Annual Thunder Thaw 50 at Tazewell Speedway is scheduled for this Saturday March 29th. The event was postponed due to inclement weather on March 9th. Sunday March 30th will also serve as a possible rain date for this event with hot-laps set to begin at 2 p.m.
Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN, coming off the series season opener victory last weekend at the Spring Thaw 100 at Volunteer Speedway, is the defending race winner and is expected to defend his title at the Taz this weekend. Other drivers expected include: 2008 Series Contenders Anthony White of Clinton, Rick Rogers of Knoxville, Tommy Kerr of Maryville, Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, David Payne of Murphy, NC, Dan Tipton of Kingston, Richard Smith of Science Hill, KY, Mike Weeks of Friendsville, Stacy Boles of Claxton, Jeff Wolfenbarger of Clinton, Jeff Maupin of Greenville, Mark Douglas of Knoxville, April Farmer of Livingston, and Jeff Neubert of Knoxville. Other regional drivers expected include Vic Hill of Morristown, Brian Smith of Barbourville, KY, Steve Smith of Powell, Marty Calloway of Maynardville, Troy Eads of Tazewell, Jack Trammell of Knoxville and many more.
Pit gates will open at 3pm with grandstands opening at 4pm and racing starting at 6pm. In addition to the $3,000 to win A-Main for The Advance Auto Parts Thunder Series Late Models, the Steel Head Late Models will run for $1,000 to win. Other classes in action will include Pure Street and Modified Street. The Crate Late Model and Four-Cylinder Divisions will be off on March 29th.
General admission for the "Thunder Thaw 50" is set at $15, with children 12-years-old and younger admitted into the grandstands FREE of charge. Pit admission is set at $30.

Crate Late Models will be permitted to run with the Steel-Head Late Model division on March 29 with a 200lb weight break, as well as a 12" spoiler and the Steel-Head tire rule.
