Plattsburgh, NY – Airborne Speedway will present the “Carmageddon” Thrill Show, directed by legendary stunt driver Brian Carson, Sunday June 8 at 2 p.m. The thrill show will include a world record jump attempt for pickup trucks, the destructive powers of Transaurus, the world’s only jet-powered metal-eating dinosaur, a bid to navigate the Airborne half-mile on two wheels, trailer races and much more.
Carson, an Essex County native, spent over 25 years as a stunt driver nationally, including work with Fox Television Studios and appearances at Charlotte (Lowe’s) Motor Speedway before a horrific crash on the set of the “Titus” show ended his active career. Carson has jumped more cars than any living auto thrill driver and has performed stunts for numerous Hollywood films, including Smokey and the Bandit, Independence Day, Swordfish and Stand By Me. He was listed in the 1999 Guiness Book of World Records for “Highest Auto Flight”. As part of an ABC network television special, Carson drove a Cadillac Seville off the parking garage roof (10 stories) of Las Vegas’ Golden Nugget casino.
Airborne Speedway begins its 54th stock car racing season Saturday, May 10 headlined by a 50-lap main event for the Ernie’s Tools DIRTcar Modifieds. The following weekend, the track will host the 34th Spring Green 100 for the American Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Models.
Airborne Speedway is located on Broderick Road in Plattsburgh, NY, just off Rte 22, one mile south of I-87 exit 36. For additional information, call 518-561-3208 or visit www.airborneparkspeedway.com. |
