URC PLANS BIG 2008 SEASON THAT GETS UNDERWAY AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY
SATURDAY, APRIL 12
The countdown is underway as the days click off towards the season
opener of the Rislone URC Sprint Series of 2008. The first race of the
new campaign will take place at the Bridgeport Speedway on Saturday
night, April 12. URC is boasting plenty of good things including a long
list of potential championship winning teams. At the top of the list is
the defending Champion Car Owner, Kathy Palladino who will have the
youthful sensation of Davey Sammons behind the wheel. As for the
defending Champion Driver, Curt Michael will pilot the always
competitive Bill Gallagher owned 5G. Also expected to be in the mix is
Chris Coyle, a three time feature winner with URC in 2007. Coyle will
be sporting the number, sponsor logo and funding of Chad Sinon and BPG
Racing.
The list of title contenders also includes Brian Seidel in the Guy Howie
#19, Ed Aikin behind the wheel of the John Pinter #92A, Dave Ely and
the Gene Franckowiak owned #75, Randy West driving the Elmer Stoltzfus
#00, Jason Clauss in the #08, Mark Bitner driving the #15 and Becca
Anderson wheeling the Bar's Leaks #17 just to name a few. Youthful
talent also with an eye on the title is Andrew Hannula driving the Scott
McClaren #21A, Kyle Purks returning in his family owned #64, Jamie Bodo
in the Gary Bacon #808, and JJ Grasso in the #37.
URC also has a large turnout of rookies in 2008. Drivers running for
the URC Rookie of the Year title this year includes Art Liedl,
Flemington, NJ, Rory Janne, Estell, NJ, David Gravel, Watertown, CT,
Jimmy Reppert, Slatington, PA, Brett Schoenly, Emmaus, PA, Jim Walters,
Delran, NJ, Chuck Palamucci, Bordentown, NJ, Dom Buffalino, Morganville,
NJ, Dennis Garl, Temple, PA, Brandon Weibley, Dillsburg, PA and Lou
Parisi of Mullica Hills, NJ. The influx of new talent to URC is driven
by URC's purse and point fund structure, their tire deal, competitors
insurance, tow money and the highly enforced car spec rules, aimed at
keeping the cost of sprint car racing affordable. URC is also proud of
their "smart schedule" of 2008 that offers twenty-nine race dates
conveniently located to minimize travel with today's high cost of fuel.
Also on the URC schedule are several special events that include the
Jack Gunn Memorial at the Selinsgrove Speedway, a $3,500 to win payoff
on Saturday night, May 17. The Rislone URC Sprint Nationals will pay
$4,000 to win at the Williams Grove Speedway on Friday night, June 6.
URC will also sanction the Kasey Kahne Foundation event at Williams
Grove on Tuesday night, August 12. Last by certainly not least is the
Saturday, October 11 $3,000 to win Sprint Challenge at Rolling Wheels
Raceway in Elbridge, NY.
URC has a "win-win" season planned and it all gets underway at the
Bridgeport Speedway on Saturday, April 12 followed by a visit to the
Delaware International Speedway on Saturday, April 19. URC will close
out the month of April visiting the New Egypt Speedway on Saturday,
April 26.
