(Woodhull, NY) The good news came just a few days ago that the necessary room would be available to accommodate all 87 of the teams that had registered for the Annual Woodhull Raceway Arnot Mall Car Show. “It was a real challenge this year stated show organizer Kenny Shupp. The Marketing people at the Mall have certainly done a great job in putting businesses into many of the former empty store fronts that we could generally count on using for over flow traffic. However, a pair of large store fronts will be emptied out in time for next weekends show so we can now get everybody in.”
For the second consecutive year track owner, Vern Wasson invited the Redline Raceway near Troy, Pa. to join in as many of their cars and drivers are within the Elmira region with several flip flopping back and forth between the two tracks at different times throughout the season. In addition, Wasson’s newest venture, the Clinton County Raceway in Mackeyville, Pa. will also have representation at this years car show.
The bulk of the registered cars are representing the Woodhull Raceway; however Redline will have three of their 2007 Track Champions on board including Brent Boyer, Mark Griffin and Nick Robinson. They will be joined at or near Center Court by 2007 Woodhull Track Champions Kenny Peoples Jr., Wayne Robertson, Ron Daily Jr., Dan Gordon and Art Goodier. Redline will also have numerous other clean looking machines representing many of their regular weekly divisions scattered throughout the Mall area with the vast majority competing in the Mini and Street Stock Classes.
Registered cars representing Woodhull cover the entire 6 weekly classes of action with a good mix of 360 Late Models, Street, Mini and FWD’s. However, a large contingent of Crate Sportsman and 358 Modifieds will all proudly be displayed.
Clinton County will have one representative in this year’s event with that being Pro-Stock competitor Kevin VanAmburg. Many of the Sprint and Late Model teams that race at Clinton are already seeing race action at various other Central Pennsylvania race venues.
Cars representing ESS, the BRP Can AM 360 LM Division, T3 All Star Series for 358 Modifieds presented by Troyer Race Cars, Mid-State Vintage Cars, IMCA as well as the Regional Pro-Trucks are registered along with several of Woodhull’s current sponsors. The much talked about Crooker Street Stock Raffle Car will also be displayed and D&J Photos will have their youth coloring contest. Schedule cards for each track will be available and many new track and series garments will be unveiled as well.
Currently details are being worked out to have several of the nearby Elmira Jackals Hockey players at the Mall sometime over the weekend along with Team Mascot, Blade. The Jackals are in the playoffs and have a home game on Saturday, April 5. For the second consecutive year the Elmira Jackals and the Woodhull Raceway will pair up as marketing partners thru long time friend, Multi Media Services of Corning.
A mandatory drivers meeting will be held at Center Court, Friday April 4 at 8:00 pm to give each registered car a map as well as to go over the Arnot Mall ground rules. If the driver can’t attend at that time a representative of the registered car must be there. All cars are expected to be on the Arnot Mall grounds no later that 9:00 pm with entry expected anytime after 9:30 on April 4. Teams are reminded that the entire vehicle must be sitting on some type of a cover and no liquid tire or body shines are allowed.
The Woodhull/Redline/Clinton Arnot Mall Car Show runs Sat. and Sun., April 5 and 6 during the normal Arnot Mall hours.
Race teams participating in this years event are reminded that this year’s car show theme is “Families in Racing” with numerous perks going to the best display including Free Admission tickets, pictures on the track web site as well as in the weekly Woodhull Raceway track program. In addition the driver will be interviewed on the weekly Woodhull Raceway Report Audio Cast on the track web site.
