Hartford, OH Mar 23, 2008 The Sharon Speedway will kick off the 2008 racing season on Saturday, April 26th, with the inaugural running of the Rick Glass 50 Pure Stock Extravaganza. The Pure Stock Division will take center stage that evening as the area's top drivers compete for the $1,200.00 to win prize. "We were looking for a special event to begin the 2008 racing season," states track owner Dave Blaney. "Several area facilities feature the Pure Stock Division at the end of the racing season and Sharon Speedway wanted to start a new tradition and have the Pure Stock drivers compete in a special that would showcase the division at the start of the racing season. We hope to grow this event into one of the premier Pure Stock events in the region."
As the Pure Stock Division will be the only division in competition this evening the drivers will get the opportunity to time trial their cars. Heat events and B-Mains will then set the field for the action packed 50 lap event. In addition the drivers will compete in a Dash and an Australian Pursuit for additional prize money.
Pit and spectator gates for this event will open at 3:00PM with qualifying at 5:00PM. Adult admission for the Rick Glass Pure Stock Extravaganza is only $11.00 with tickets priced at just $5.00 for children ages nine to 13. As always admission for children eight and under is free.
Pure Stock drivers are reminded that there is a $25.00 pre-registration fee if they enter prior to race day. Registration will be $30.00 on race day. Drivers in all of Sharon Speedway's Fantastic Five Divisions are also encouraged to take part in the two Test and Tune Sessions that are scheduled for Saturday, April 12 and Saturday, April 19th from 1:00PM to 4:00PM.
