Steve King Foundation® Establishes Partnership with NCRA for 2008 Season

Jetmore, Kan. (04.03.08) – The National Championship Racing Association (NCRA) is partnering with the Steve King Foundation in Helping Racing Families Heal. The foundation and NCRA have established a promotional partnership for the 2008 season.

“We are pleased that NCRA as agreed to help us increase awareness of the foundation,” said Naomi King.

The foundation will have a presence at many of the NCRA 360 Sprint car events throughout the season starting with the Steve King Memorial Classic in Jetmore, Kan., on May 10th. NCRA races where the foundation will have a presence include:

May 10 Jetmore, Kan. July 19 Dodge City, Kan.

May 25 WaKeeney, Kan. August 16 Wichita, Kan.

June 15 Belleville, Kan. August 23 Doniphan, Neb.

“This is a natural partnership for us,” commented C. Ray Hall, NCRA president. “The foundation has already helped so many people, and we want to make sure it is in a position to help any racer in need.”

Each event will include a variety of fund-raising opportunities – all working toward the goal of helping the racing community when it is in need. In Jetmore, race fans will have the opportunity to win a chance to drive an actual sprint car. In Wichita, a fun run motorcycle event has been scheduled, and other events are being planned. At each event, race fans will have the chance to purchase foundation merchandise. All proceeds go directly to the foundation.

Besides the partnership with NCRA, the foundation is planning other activities including a fund raising event in conjunction with the World of Outlaws show in Lernerville, Penn. The foundation will also be present at the 360 Nationals and the Knoxville Nationals in August. Other events are being planned and will be announced as details are finalized.

The Steve King Foundation was formed to help individuals involved in dirt track racing across the country by providing financial assistance to drivers, pit crew members, racing officials, track operations personnel or the immediate families of those individuals who are seriously ill, severely injured or die. Since its inception, the foundation has provided aid to 15 members of the racing community across eight states. The foundation will also contribute to organizations and facilities dedicated to improving the safety of the sport when additional funds are available.

The foundation, a 501(c)3 tax-deductible organization, was founded after the untimely death of Steve King, driver of the #88 Ethanol sprint car from Jetmore, Kan. King, a two-time National Championship Racing Association (NCRA) Sprint Series Champion, died from injuries sustained during a 2006 Knoxville Nationals qualifying night feature.

Contributions can be sent to the Steve King Foundation at 24583 NW 208 Rd, Jetmore, KS 67854. For more information, visit www.SteveKingFoundation.org.
