O’Reilly Midwest All Star Series to Require One-Way Radios

CAMARGO, IL (04-03-08) by Robert Cortum - Midwest All Star Series

The O’Reilly Midwest All Star Series would like to remind all drivers participating in sanctioned events in 2008 that they will be required to have a one-way radio. The new 2008 rule book that was released in January specifies the make and model of the radios which are quickly becoming an industry standard.

The announcement comes in preparation for the sophomore campaign for the Midwest All Star Series as they have an aggressive schedule of more than 20 events beginning April 11 at the Benton Race Park in Benton, Missouri. The addition of the one-way radios for all sanctioned All Star events was a decision based on two main factors, driver safety and race organization.

Drivers will be immediately alerted to yellow and red situations on the track to help slow down or stop the competition in the event of an emergency. Drivers will also be given the official line-up from the scoring tower after incidents to help speed up the process of getting lined up for restarts.

The O’Reilly Midwest All Star Series will have the radios available at all events throughout the season. A rental fee of $20.00 per event will be charged or teams may purchase the units for $85.00. This is the same unit used by the All Star Circuit of Champions, the World of Outlaws, and many local tracks who have implemented this device.

The O'Reilly All Stars are dedicated to bringing the fans a more organized show and the use of radios will help speed things along throughout the program as well as help to reduce or eliminate the need for fuel stops caused by unnecessary laps being run while lining up cars with a pit board. Putting on a good, efficient show goes a long way in the eyes of fans who like to be home at a decent hour after an event.
