Cornwall honours is 2007 champions
Cornwall, Ont - It was the Cornwall Motor Speedway banquet held at the beautiful City Limits located at about 2 minutes drive from the speedway in Cornwall on Saturday, April 5, 2008.
All the track champions have been honoured, in the modifieds, the top 8 drivers received a trophy plus some money award for their great year at the speedway. Alain Boisvert received the top honour followed by Clément Therrien, Lee Ladouceur, Stéphane Lafrance, Pierre Dagenais, Laurent Ladouceur, Kyle Dingwall and Mark Hitchcock completed the top 8.
In the Pro-Stock division, Clayton Benedict was again crowned as the champion followed by PJ Peters, Louie Jackson, George Renaud, Joey Ladouceur and Dave Bissonnette rounded up the top 6. Benedict’s title was won by only a 2 point margin.
Marc Lalonde won the title in the Semi Pro and Corey Wheeler in the Rookie Stock also got their share of fame.
Each division champion received a championship jacket along with their trophy, money envelope and a full size image of them in a racing suit.
The 2006 rookies of the year where also named, Roy Delormier in the modifieds, Ghyslain Valade in the Pro-Stocks, Stéphane Carrière in the Semi Pro and Eli Gilbert in the Rookie Stock each received a nice trophy for their success in their first year in racing.
The top 3 of each mini series where also honoured, for the Doiron Engineering Cup, Pierre Dagenais, Alain Boisvert and Clément Therrien received the prizes. For the Mohawk Racing Parts Series for Pro Stock, it was PJ Peters finishing first followed by Joey Ladouceur and Gilles Godard.
The best appearing team award was given to Dave Bissonnette`s race team. The team received some t-shirts.
The Sheldon Legue Merit Award went to Ron and Jenna Aubin owner of the Home Hardware in Alexandria for all his contribution as a sponsor to help keep dirt racing at its best in Eastern Canada, a well deserve honour for them.
Again a nice evening as it only took about an hour to give away all the awards to the drivers and other winners.
This banquet concluded the 2007 season in style and we are getting ready for a fast approaching 2008 season start!
