TWO MORE OPENERS SLATED THIS WEEK AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY

BRIDGEPORT, NJ (April 6, 2008) - With the 2008 season opener completed at Bridgeport Speedway on Saturday, April 5, two more openers are scheduled for the upcoming week. On Saturday, April 12, the United Racing Company (URC) Sprints will conduct their 2008 opener at Bridgeport Speedway. This will mark the 61st season opener for the nation's oldest traveling sprint car organization.
Chris Coyle, the driver of the newly formed BPG URC sprint car team, will look to repeat his 2007 URC season opening win at Bridgeport Speedway. The new hotshoe of the Bill Gallagher owned 5G, defending URC champion Curt Michael, turned some practice laps at Bridgeport Speedway on Saturday, April 5 in excess of 126 MPH. This will be the first of three Bridgeport Speedway visits for the URC Sprints in 2008 as they will return on Saturday, May 24 and Friday, July 4.
Big Block Modifieds, 358 Sportsman and GM Sportsman will join the URC Sprints for a blockbuster 4 division show. Another star-studded field of Big Block Modifieds is expected to be on hand in pursuit of the 2008 Bridgeport Modified title. Pit Gates will open at 2:00 PM, Grandstand Gates open at 4:00 PM, Warm-Ups will begin at 5:15 PM and the first race will start at 6:00 PM. General Admission tickets are $20 for adults. Kids 12 and under are admitted for free. Pit Admission is $25 with a license and $35 without a license. Any track license will be accepted on April 12. Also, any 13 x 92 track tire will be honored provided that the track tire is American Racer 44 or 48 compound.
The 2008 season opener for Bridgeport Speedway’s popular 1/4 mile racing program will occur on Friday, April 11 at 7:00 PM. $500-to-win 25 lap feature events are on tap for the 600cc Micro Sprints and the 270cc Micro Sprints. Additionally, 4 Cylinder Stock Cars and the invading Slingshots will add to the fast and furious racing action on the inner oval. Pit Gates will open at 4:00 PM. General Admission tickets are $13 for adults. Kids 12 and under are admitted for free.
Billed ‘The Fastest Dirt Track in the East’, Bridgeport Speedway is a banked 5/8th mile dirt oval, featuring a dirt 1/4 mile oval embedded in the center, and is located in Southern New Jersey -- just minutes from Pennsylvania and Delaware at exit 14 off of I-295.
