Spencer leads CRA back to Perris.

SPENCER LEADS CRA BACK TO THE PAS

Mike Spencer has a five point lead in the latest USAC/CRA Sprint Car standings but he’ll need to keep an eye on Cory Kruseman again Saturday night when the series returns to Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway. It’s “30s and 40s Night” where anyone born in the 1930s or 1940s is admitted for $5.00!

Spencer wrested the point lead away from Kruseman after beating him to the checkered flag March 29 at the 1/2-mile dirt oval. Kruseman is the only driver so far this season to win more than one race, taking the back-to-back season openers at Perris in February.

As was the case in 2007 when 11 different drivers won in the first 11 races, the 2008 USAC/CRA series has proven just as unpredictable, with seven different race winners in the first eight contests.

Garrett Hansen, who ranks fifth in the points, is the highest-ranking driver without a 2008 feature victory. Hansen scored his first USAC/CRA feature win last year at Perris.
