The 5 Mile Point Speedway to host the season opener for the Twin Tiers Touring group.
(Woodhull, NY) Many of the top 358 Modified teams in the region are all set to converge on the 5 Mile Point Speedway in Kirkwood, NY on Saturday, April 26 as the T3 All Star Series for 358 Modifieds presented by Troyer Race Cars are all set to make their season debut.
It will be the fourth time in as many years that the popular Small Block Modified Touring Series will make its way to The Point and according to sources involved with both 5 Mile Point as well at the T3 All Star Series all systems are go for what is expected to be a stellar field.
“We have been extremely busy installing the new front straight a way bleachers at the facility stated 5 Mile Point Promoter, Andrew Harpell from his Kirkwood, NY office. The late spring certainly has put us several weeks behind, but we are moving forward with the intent of getting this show run as scheduled.”
The T3 All Star Series for 358 Modifieds presented by Troyer Race Cars has a history of huge car counts whenever they travel to The Point with the past three events staged serving up an average of 44 cars per event. Mitch Gibbs swept both events in 2005 with Danny Johnson winning the season ending event in 2006. Due to late season scheduling problems the October 2007 event had to be cancelled.
“We are absolutely thrilled to be going back to 5 Mile Point stated T3 All Star Series Promoter, Kenny Shupp. Andrew and I decided to run the 5 Mile Point event early this season rather than later simply because it is early in the season and everyone will be race ready. Coupled with that the Woodhull Raceway will not be running 358 Modifieds on that particular Saturday night giving many of the Woodhull regulars a place to race in late April. Toss in all the 358 cars from the Binghamton region, eastern New York and northern Pa. and the potential is there for a great show.”
Tentative plans call for a 40 feature for the T3 All Stars and racers are encouraged to arrive early as many competitors have to be registered with the T3 Series and T3 All Star Series rules will apply for this event. Registration forms and series rules can be found on the T3 All Star Series web site.
Joining the T3 All Star 358 Modifieds on the card will be the Sportsman Modifieds, Pure Stocks, Lightning Cars as well as the Figure 8 machines. Race time is set for 5:00 pm which will get everyone on the road at an early hour.
