PLATTSBURGH, NY - - Alain Boisvert of Pointe-Claire, Quebec, the 2007 DIRTcar Modified Champion at dirt tracks Autodrome Granby and Cornwall Motor Speedway, will compete weekly on the asphalt at Airborne Speedway in 2008.
Boisvert, 42, will compete in a new car sponsored by Bert Transmissions and powered by an AMB engine. “My good friend Richard Tisseur enjoys racing at Airborne very much,” Boisvert reports. “He got me interested in trying the asphalt. I raced there once last year and saw that they have a lot of Canadian fans. I have very big expectations, but I know that I’m going to need all the laps under my belt that I can get.”
“I’m passionate about the sport, but I’m a clean and fair driver,” claims Boisvert. “I’ll start with baby steps. In the beginning, a top-5 finish will be a great achievement. Martin Roy was a championship contender at Airborne last year. We have done a lot of side by side racing at Granby and elsewhere. He’s knows we’re coming to Airborne and taking it seriously.
Boisvert operates the ESP Auto Auction in Montreal, which sponsors his dirt track efforts. His three children Mathieu 14, Arianne 13, and Simon 10 have all competed in go-karts. Arianne is drawn more to soccer and hockey,” Boisvert says. “She and the boys play all over, in the USA and Canada. They’re like me – very busy.”
Airborne Speedway begins its 57th season Saturday, May 10 at 5 p.m. with a five-division race card presented by Econo Lodge highlighted by an Ernie’s Tools Modified 50-lap main event. The American Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Model Tour visits Airborne Saturday, May 17 for the Furniture World of Vermont Spring Green 100. Airborne weekly divisions will also be in action. |
