Dollansky & Bowersock Take Eldora Wins.

ROSSBURG, OH (April 11) - Craig Dollansky's fourth career World
of Outlaw (WoO) Sprint Car win at Eldora Speedway came in traditional
Eldora style Friday night, as the Elk River, MN veteran pulled a classic
re-start slide job over Donny Schatz to power to the win. Jerry Bowersock
captured the companion Moser UMP (United Midwestern Promoters) Modified
finale to register his 21st career victory.

Heavy rains throughout the week, and an already saturated
facility had put Friday's race meet in question, but track officials worked
diligently to prep a superb race track that produced typical Eldora speeds.
Although skeptical at first, the drivers were full of praise at night's end.

It was a night of drama and suspense. Joey Saldana appeared to
have the event well in hand, as he charged from his pole position starting
berth to take the early lead. That lead suddenly evaporated at the end of
20 laps as a left rear flat tire brought Saldana to a halt in turn four.

Defending Kings Royal champion Donny Schatz, who had been
reeling in Saldana, suddenly became the race leader; however his lead was
short-lived, as on the ensuing restart,
Dollansky executed a turn one slide-job to perfection.

The remaining ten laps had multiple story lines, as a pair of
cautions for flat tires and another for a car stopping with fuel shortage
bunched the field up. Each time, Dollansky was able to pull away from
Schatz, with the duo leading Jason Sides, Kerry Madsen and Tim Shaffer to
the checkered flag. Shaffer turned in a stellar performance to move to
fifth at the finish, after starting 23rd. Another strong runner was
multi-time WoO Champion Steve Kinser, who moved from 21st to 6th at the
finish.

Todd Sherman led the early laps of the Moser UMP Modified
finale, only to fall to a strong running Bowersock in the late stages of the
17 lap finale. Michigan invader Mark Anderson also powered past Sherman in
the late stages to gather runner-up honors, while Scott Orr and Jon Henry
completed the top five.
