April 12, 2008 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Mercer, PA)
Racing action scheduled for Saturday night, April 12 at
Mercer Raceway Park has been cancelled due the approaching cold, wet
weather for later today. The five-division "Saturday Night Live"
opener will now take place on Saturday, April 19 with the Luxaire
Heating & Cooling Sprint Cars, Tire Express Modifieds, McElwain
Motors FASTRAK Late Models, Big Daddy's Speed Center Mod Lites, & the
M&D Paving Mini Stocks.
"This was one of the toughest cancellations we've had to make
in a long time," acknowledged 10th year owner Vicki Emig. "It's not
easy to cancel with the sun out, but the forecast for later today is
not good with showers and falling temperatures. We tried waiting as
long as possible watching the weather, but it's just too questionable
especially with the cold temperatures. We were getting calls from
central and western Ohio, central Pa, New Jersey, and Canada from
racers wanting to come. With fuel costs at record highs everyone is
a little hesitant. Hopefully next Saturday's weather is better."
Mercer Raceway Park is located minutes from both Interstate
79 and 80 just off Route 19 on Fairground Road in Mercer, Pa. Dirt
