Due to continued wet grounds from a damp weekend, along with high winds and a below freezing wind chill in the forecast, the 54th season of racing at the fast 3/8 miler in Weedsport will wait until Sunday, April 20 at 5pm.
“It has been a rainy weekend throughout central and western New York , and it has left our grounds in an unfavorable condition,” said Cayuga County Fair Speedway General Manager, Jack Deery. “Combine that with high winds, and a freezing wind chill and you get a long day. There is only one opening day, and we want it to be the best possible for all involved.”
Cayuga County’s 54th season opener will now move to Sunday, April 20 on ‘Gater Racing News Night at the Races.’ The full roster of DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds, DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds, UMP Street Stocks, and BattleKarz will take the green flag at 5pm.
Remember to pick out your favorite seat for the Personal Seat License program which is available again in 2008. Along with your personalized seat, you will also receive four DIRTcar “5-Packs.” Each 5pak coupon is good for (1) admission to all regular season events. For special events, each coupon can be used as a $12 credit towards admission.
Providing another great deal for fans, single purchases of “5-Pack” tickets can be purchased for $48.
Tickets for the season opener will be made available at the gate. Adult general admission is set at $12 for all regular events, $10 for Seniors (Age 65+), $5 for children (Ages 10-14), and those under the age of 9 are FREE. Pit admission for DIRTcar Northeast members will be $20, while non-members will be admitted for $25.
Looking ahead to Sunday, April 27, be sure to mark your calendars for ‘$20 Car Load Night.’ Up until 4:45pm, pack a car load full of people and enter the races for just $20. Racing that night will kick-off at 5pm with the DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds, DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds, UMP Street Stocks, and BattleKarz all in action.
