Cayuga County Fair Speedway will open for its 54th season on Sunday, April 20 with Gater Racing News Night featuring the mighty DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds.
As usual for an April race date, heat races will go off the line at 5pm with the pit area opening at 2pm, and grandstands swinging open at 3pm.
Joining the DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds on the weekly warrior racing card will be the DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds, UMP Street Stocks, and BattleKarz. A healthy field of entrants is expected, as the central New York area tunes up for another exciting year.
Last week’s season opener was washed away due to wet grounds, and cold temperatures. However, the heat is turning up for this weekend and all signs are a ‘Go’ for another season of racing at the fast 3/8 mile Weedsport oval.
In 2008, look for Jimmy Phelps and Steve Paine to once again battle it out for supremacy. However, this season will also see a resurgence of young talent in Derrick Podsiadlo, and Rob Bellinger. Newcomers “Super” Matt Sheppard, Jeff Brownell Jr., and rookies Larry Wight, Mike Mahaney, and Steve Planck should all be making stops. Plus, the other weekly stars such as Justin Haers and Billy Dunn make Cayuga County the hot bed for Sunday night racing in Central New York .
It’s also a great time to pick out your favorite seat for the Personal Seat License program which is available again in 2008. Along with your personalized seat, you will also receive four DIRTcar “5-Packs.” Each 5pak coupon is good for (1) admission to all regular season events. For special events, each coupon can be used as a $12 credit towards admission.
Providing another great deal for fans, single purchases of “5-Pack” tickets can be purchased for $48.
Tickets for the season opener will be made available at the gate. Adult general admission is set at $12 for all regular events, $10 for Seniors (Age 65+), $5 for children (Ages 10-14), and those under the age of 9 are FREE. Pit admission for DIRTcar Northeast members will be $20, while non-members will be admitted for $25.
