Fultonville, NY - When word came that Jeff Brownell Jr and his teammate Matt Sheppard were coming to Glen Ridge everyone was eager to see what the western New York hotshoes could do. While opening day found Brownell's race ending in the infield with a flat left rear tire, and race number two found him in a post race scuffle, and a long weekly drive, Brownell decided to call the Ridge home on Friday nights, a commitment that would not take long to pay off.

Jeff Sheely and Al McCoy would lead the modified feature to starter Dan Kingsley's green flag but trouble would immediately insue in turn 1. Randy Hotaling would catch an inside tire damaging the left front of his number 71 Teo and collecting up Chuck Allen, last weeks winner Floyd Billington and Tim Mayne. Hotaling would be done for the evening. On the restart the creme would rise to the top as defending track champion Craig Hanson would make a charge to the front from his fourth place starting spot. After dodging the early maylee, Brownell would be on the charge quickly making his way through the field and setting off after Hanson. Brownell would take over the top spot from Hanson but Hanson would fight back challenging for the lead but would eventually lose ground to Brownell. A late race yellow would fly for the stopped car of Jamike Sowle in turn 3 giving Hanson another shot at Brownell but Brownell would pull away on the restart. As the field came to the white flag the damaged car of Floyd Billington would slow trying to clear the track into the infield. Erik Nelson running in third would have no where to go and would clip the back of Billington spinning his number 85 mount and collecting the 88 of Joe Carnibucci. Both would be done for the night. On restart and one lap shootout Brownell would not be deterred, taking the victory. Hanson would be second followed by McCoy, Sheely, and Dustin Purdy.

Steve Douglas and Robert Gray would lead the Budget Sportsman feature to the green with Douglas taking the early lead. Jeremiah Munson would quickly move into second from his third place starting spot. Munson would stalk Douglas's 28 until a small mistake by Douglass would let the Ephrata, NY driver past. Munson would drive away unchallenged to the victory. Joe Ketchum would finish second followed by Angela Hoard, Rob Konikowski, and Douglas.

The street stock feature would get off to an auspicious start as Steve Cosselman would break from his front row starting spot sending the field scattering. Dave Sullivan would wind up over the bank in turn 1 but would find his way back to the raceway and rejoin the field. Luke Horning would jump out to an early lead in his 22H mount but would quickly be pressure by Rob VanAernam. VanAernam would masterfully work the bottom line of the speedway and take over the top spot but the hot shoes were coming. In the previous 2 races Dave Bayes and Chuck McSpirit had finished 1-2 and the duo would quickly charge to the 2nd and 3rd positions behind VanAernam. With Van Aernam working the bottom McSpirit would start to work higher and higher on the speedway and would battle with VanAernam, eventually taking the top spot. A late race caution would fly for Horning as he would spin in turn 2 ending his race. On the restart VanAernam would get 1 last shot at McSpirit who would go on to take the victory. VanAernam was second followed by Bayes. Dave Sullivan would rebound to finish fourth with Randy Cosselman fifth.

Heather King would use her front row starting spot to take the lead in the Cruiser feature. King running the bottom of the speedway would hold on to the top spot as Bobby Rhinehardt, Bruce Liddle, and Ken Hollenbeck. Hollenbeck and Liddle would make contact sending Hollenbeck's mount into the front stretch wall ending the race for both drivers. On the restart Kerry Hollenbeck, the opening day winner, would make a charge getting by Rhinehardt for second and working the outside to get by King. Hollenbeck would cruise to the victory followed by Rhinehardt, Chris Andrew, King, and Pat McSpirit.

The 2008 season continues next Friday, April 25th with a regular show. Gates open at 5pm with racing scheduled for 7:30pm. For more information visit the Glen Ridge web site at http://www.thenewglenridgemotorsportspark.com.
