Stock Car Saturday Night Finds Moser Collecting First Career SSP Win; Walker Repeats in Street Stocks

Posted by Tom Ames  |  04/20/08

Newberrytown, PA (April 19, 2008) – Racing action at the Susquehanna Speedway Park for Stock Car Saturday Night found John Moser, Jr. from East Berlin collecting his first career SSP victory in the Late Model division. Middletown ’s Eric Walker won his second straight Street Stock feature by half a car length over Dustin Hollinger. Ronnie Buck from Annville won the Four Cylinder feature and

Lancaster’s Donnie Broderick was victorious in the very competitive Xtreme Stock Car division. Paul Bacchus from Valencia picked up the PENNMAR Vintage Car feature event victory. York Haven’s Butch Richcreek won the Speedway Auto Sales Mini Van feature.

The 20-lap Late Model feature began with Justin Ehrhart grabbing the lead from outside the front row. On a lap 5 restart, John Moser Jr. took that spot away from Ehrhart and continued in command with Carl Graves pursuing him methodically. A blown engine from the Jake Jones racer brought a red flag to cleanup the track from the oil dropped around the track. On the restart, Moser held on the rest of the way to pick up the victory over Graves . Carl Billet came from the back of the field after going to the rear on a lap 1 caution to finish third. Justin Ehrhart and Sam Leonard, Jr. rounded out the top five. Bud Witmer and Charles Potts won the qualifying heat races.

Last week’s Street Stock feature winner, Eric Walker jumped out to the early lead from his pole position over Dustin Hollinger. A few caution flags closed up the field, but Walker continued to lead over Hollinger until the final turn of the final lap. A mad dash for the finish found Walker winning the race to the flag over Hollinger. Joey Hoffer finished third over Scott Thunberg and last year’s track champion, Paul Morgan rounding out the top five. Heats were won by Hoffer and Chad Smith.

In the 20-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature event, Donnie Broderick took the lead from the fourth place starting spot and wired the field by leading every lap for the feature win. A hard charging Sam Rial came from the ninth starting position to finish second. Starting beside Rial, Matt Wampler finished third from spot 10. Ray Broderick started eleventh and finished fourth. Alex Updegraff came all the way from starting 20th to finish in spot number five. Wampler and Rial won the qualifying heat races.

In the 20-lap Four Cylinder feature, Ronnie Buck took the lead on the start. John Stoll, Jr. took over the lead on the next circuit and Buck regained it back on the ninth lap and never looked back as he took the checkered flag by three car lengths over Stoll. Eric and Ed Hollenbach finished third and fourth respectively. Leroy Long rounded out the top five. Ed Hollenbach and Stoll won their respective heat races.

The 12-lap PENNMAR Vintage Car feature started with Fred Krickbaum jumping out to the early lead and holding the top spot for the first 10 laps. A caution on lap 10 bunched up the field. On the restart, Krickbaum continued to lead until the last one hundred feet of the race when Paul Bacchus edged by Krickbaum for the win. Jeff Gamble finished third, followed by Richard Pastor and Alan Pahvlick in fourth and fifth. Fred Krickbaum won the heat race.

In the 10-lap Speedway Auto Sales Mini Van feature, Kenny Latz took command of the lead from the start. In his first race of his career, Latz led the first four circuits until Butch Richcreek took over the lead on the fifth circuit from Latz. Richcreek held onto the front spot through the end of the race to pick up his first win of the season. 2007 Mini Van Track Champion, Daryl Sipe finished second, followed by Jason Anderson, Kimberly Matino and Richard Day.
