KIRKWOOD, NY...Five Mile Point Speedway has added an Open Practice as part of the 58th season opening schedule this Saturday, April 26th. The paid practice will take place between 12 noon and 3 p.m. Pit gates will re open at 3:45 p.m. with racing set to go green at 6 p.m Saturday night.
A number of teams have indicated that they would like the opportunity of an extended open practice session leading up to the big opening night event of racing. In response the speedway staff has added a three hour paid practice during the day on Saturday. After the practice session the speedway will be groomed and prepped for the evening racing program that will go green at 6 p.m. Teams will receive a brief warm up session prior to the racing action at 5:15 p.m.
Last week over three feet of clay was put in place on the historic quarter mile oval in anticipation of the big 2008 racing season. The surface held together nicely this past Saturday during practice and the additional on track time will only make it better for the racing action on Saturday night.
This Saturday night will see the 58th annual season opener at the speedway with a special 40 lap T3 Modified series event. The point race will get underway for the Sportsman, Pure Stocks, Lightning Cats and Figure 8 teams.
Race time is slated for 6 p.m. this Saturday at Five Mile Point Speedway. A raindate has been established for the following day – Sunday, April 27th if needed.
