2008 Sharon Speedway Schedule Announced

HARTFORD, Ohio (April 21, 2008) - Spring has finally arrived in northwestern Ohio and the Sharon Speedway will kick off the 2008 racing season on Saturday, April 26th with a new tradition, "The Rick Glass Pure Stock 50." The Pure Stock only racing program will feature the area's most competitive division in a 50 lap feature event paying $1,200.00 to win. Grandstand Admission for the season opener is just $7.00.
"Fantastic Five" racing action featuring the Warren Harley-Davidson 410 Sprints, the Gibson-Governor Insurance V-8 Modifieds, the Tom's Sewer and Drain E-Mods, Tight Seal Glass Block Pure Stocks and the Limited Sprints, will begin on Saturday, May 3rd. Mother's Day and Father's Day Celebrations, a Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular and Christmas in July are just a few of the special events that are included in the Speedway's 2008 racing schedule.
"County Nights" with a reduced Adult Admission of just $5.00 have also been added for the upcoming season. "As the price of gas continues to increase we wanted to provide families in the area with affordable and action packed evening of family entertainment," stated Sharon Speedway co-owner, Dave Blaney. "In addition to providing new fans with the opportunity to experience the excitment of short track racing we are also allowing our regular fans from these counties to save a few dollars well." The dates for the County Nights are as follows:

Saturday, May 17th Ashtabula County, OH and Mercer County, PA
Saturday, June 28th Mahoning County, OH and Crawford County, PA
Saturday, July 19th Columbiana County, OH and Butler County, PA
Saturday, August 23rd Trumbull County, OH and Lawrence County, PA

Two NASCAR Nights are featured on the 2008 schedule. The Ollie's 360 Challenge
featuring speedway owner Dave Blaney, and NASCAR stars Kasey Kahne and Tony Stewart will make its debut on Tuesday June 17th. Each A-Main feature event in the three race series pays $6,000.00 to win. In addition to the Sharon Speedway the series will also make stops at the Eldora and Williams Grove Speedways. The second NASCAR Night is scheduled for Tuesday, August 12th and additional details on the program will be announced in the near future.
The World of Outlaw Sprint Cars will make a vist to the Trumbull County oval on Saturday, September 20th as the Speedway celebrates "The Apple Festival Nationals." The American 360 Sprint Car Series will also be in action that evening. The 2008 Sharon Speedway racing season will then conclude on Sunday, September 21st, as the second day of "The Apple Festival Nationals" will feature the American 360 Sprint Car Series along with the Limited Sprints and the Pure Stocks. Late Model race fans in Western PA and Eastern OH will have the opportunity to see several top sanctioning bodies as the IRS, MACS and World of Outlaw Late Model Series' will all stop by the Hartford, OH oval this summer. The IRS Late Model Speedweek Finale will take place on Saturday, May 31st. The MACS Late Model Series, featuring former Sharon Speedway Big Block Modified competitor Russell King will compete on Saturday, June 21st and the World of Outlaw Late Model Series starring drivers such as Chub Frank and Rick Eckert will be in action on Saturday, July 26th.
Tickets for the Speedway's 2008 events can be purchased by calling the speedway ticket office at (330)-772-1186 Mondays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Fridays from 10 a.m to 12 p.m. Tickets may also be purchased online at www.sharonspeedway.com.
