JR Stewart’s Year With Hammons Motorsports Begins on High Note.
Driving for the first time in his career for a car owner, JR Stewart brought all of his old crew members to the race last night at Limaland Motorsports Park for the popular Lima area car owner Ron Hammons. While the beginning of the night was a bit of struggle, the ending was just fine.
Starting off with the heat race where JR would line up on the tail, ninth, he would need four spots to transfer into the A-Main. After getting bottled up on the start he was never able to gain the needed positions for entry into the feature. Seventh is where he ended up using the bottom of the track.
B-Main time. With five moving on JR would only need one spot to confirm his accommodations in the feature. Once again using the bottom but moving up to the middle to pass cars not as fast he finished up in the second spot earning his spot.
Seventeenth, not exactly starting up towards the front, but to finish first, first you must finish. To do any of this you must start the race and that had already been taken care of. Taking it a little gingerly at the very start it didn’t take long for the 6s to begin its march towards the front. Still using the bottom but moving up off of it when needed the Hammons Motorsports entry was bad fast in the first race of the year. With each successive caution and an unfortunate red flag, JR was moving up to the front. With six laps to go that red flag brought the white and blue 6s up to the bumper of the third place car for a six lap dash to the finish. In the end he couldn’t pick up any more spots and fourth is where he finished, a 13 spot gain in twenty-five laps.
