The Russell Motorsports Team has lost a very dear friend this past week. After battling with Cancer for months, Jane Patterson, Wife of Jami's Car owner, Tom Patterson, passed away. Our thoughts and prayers lay with the Patterson Family at this time.
After a winter of hard work, The Russell Motorsports crew is finally ready to officially begin the 2008 racing season. The car has come a long way sense the last time it seen racetrack in the fall of 2007. As many of you may remember, the Northstar Chevrolet sprinter's last trek resulted in a wild ride, ending up upside down and on fire.
The crew has spent most of the winter rebuilding and repairing the machine from the terrifying crash. The car spent close to 2 months at HICO Fabrications being straitened and having new bodywork made and fitted. After a quick trip to the Powdertech powder coating shop, the car was ready to be assembled and it was time for the bodywork to be painted at Krash Menders. The bodywork went to Bob Ogren out of Albany, The new painter for the Russell Motorsports team to be lettered.
The first stop for the newly finished car would be the Quad Graphics plant in Saratoga for their annual corporate dinner. The Northstar Chevrolet #27 sprint car was used as the backdrop for all of the employee pictures for the night.
The following weekends would see the car in Latham Circle Mall for the annual Rolling Thunder car show and the annual Rotterdam Mall car show.
Last week, The Northstar Chevrolet Sprinter was on display at the Northstar Chevrolet Dealership in Clifton Park, NY as a part of their WGNA Country fest Ticket sale.
The official 2008 race season Kicks off this Saturday afternoon at Fonda Speedway off exit 28 of the thruway for the 360 sprint car open. After a long winter of work, the crew is very excited to get the season underway. The next race on the schedule following Fonda will be an Empire Super Sprints race at Utica Rome Speedway on May 25th.
The Crew would like to thank Northstar Chevrolet, Patterson Motorsports, Hico Fabrications, Krash Menders, Miller Motorsports, Action Equipment, Pancho's Racing Products, and Scott Loomis Restorations, as it wouldn't be possible to race in 2008 without the help of these people. |
