NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (April 25) – What promises to be another record-
setting six-race swing sees Big Dog Chassis return as title sponsor
of the Dakota Classic Tour for IMCA Modifieds.
The North Platte, Neb., chassis manufacturer and high performance
parts retailer will furnish the $2,000 point fund for the top 10
drivers in the 19th annual tour, which runs from July 6-11 at tracks
in North Dakota and Saskatchewan.
More than 90 drivers from a dozen states and three Canadian provinces
competed over the course of the 2007 tour. New tour marks were also
established with 62 car per night averages and 43 drivers who raced
at each event.
“The support Big Dog has shown the Dakota Tour has been outstanding
and their financial backing has raised the final point fund from
$1,500 to $2,000 this year,” said IMCA Marketing Director Kevin
Yoder. “The winner’s share remains $500, but now each driver in the
top ten in final points leaves with at least $100, doubled from last
year.”
The 2008 Big Dog Dakota Classic Modified tour opens at Nodak Speedway
in Minot, then crosses the border to Estevan Motor Speedway. Two
events are on tap at Williston Basin Speedway before races at
Southwest Speedway in Dickinson and the finale at Mandan’s Dacotah
Speedway.
All six events pay $1,200 to win and a minimum of $200 to make the 24
car feature grid. National, home region and Smiley’s Racing Products
state points will also be awarded. Drivers will be required to
display two Big Dog Chassis decals on their race car to be eligible
for any shares of the point fund or contingency awards.
Each winner and the tour champion become ballot candidates for the
2009 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational during the IMCA Speedway
Motors Super Nationals.
