Brewerton, NY ( April 25, 2008) It doesn't matter where he starts, because Billy Decker started 17th, took over the top spot on lap and held on for his
second consecutive win at the "D Shape Demon."
"It's great to be here at Brewerton in victory lane. John Wight and the crew gave me a great car tonight," Decker said.
"Larry was there in front of me and I think I crossed him up, but he's gonna get his wins don't worry. I didn't want to see the caution with four to go, I
wasn't sure what we had left, but it worked out, these guys are tough here."
As Decker ran the high line, Willy Decker, ran low, Alan Johnson came thru traffic using the middle and Matt Sheppard used bothe middle and the high side to work towards the top five.
As the laps clicked away, Jim Witko Jr worked into the top five getting by Johnson and Sheppard for the third spot.
After a late caution with four to go, Decker went high, Willy Decker went low, Witko followed Willy and Johnson and Sheppard both stayed on the high side, but when the checkered flew it was Billy Decker grabbing the top spot and the rest of the top five remaining the same.
They call him the "Rob Cat", Rob Keller grabbed the IMCA victory after starting in position number eight.
"The race car was awesome, Dale was up high and that looked fast, so that's were we ran," Keller said. "Dale was good and I don't know if we could of caught
him, when he broke I know we were best at that point,"
Dale Caswell had the early advantage after starting in position nine, quickly worked his way to the top spot using the outside and the middle lanes and held on until he broke on lap five when he broke coming off turn two.
The lead was handed over to Keller, with Kevan Cook giving chase, but had nothing for the Keller ride, except holding off Bill Anderson and Rich Keller as
they fought for fourth and fifth. Rich Keller won that battle finishing third.
ESDCA Mod Lite feature event was all about muscle. On lap number two Doug Williams muscled his way from his third starting spot To the top spot getting by pole setter Frank Sobotka, As Williams was running away up front, Joe Garafolo made his way to the tail of the Williams ride.
At the halfway point the red flag flew as Mike Virginia went sideways and got slammed by the Seth Stone machine. Virginia would exit under his own power, but he would get a ride to a Syracuse hospital for observation.
On the restart Williams got on the gas and opened up a four car advantage over Garafolo, but Lowell Zehr would catch Garafolo, slide under neath to take over the second spot and that is were he would finish as Williams would grab his first feature win of the season.
The 4 Cylinder Super Stocks saw a Toyota Camry in victory lane for the very first time as Russell Erwin powered his way thru the pack after starting in the six spot.
As Erwin ran away with win as defending division champion Claude Hutchings Jr finished in the second .
"The track was super slick , but the car stuck and ran real well," Erwin said. "I didn't know where anyone was behind us, I just concentrated on hitting the
marks."
Hutchings jr, Chuck Powelczyk, Glenn Erwin and Sam Curcie rounded out the top five.
