KIRKWOOD, NY...The 58th consecutive Five Mile Point Speedway season opener at Five Mile Point Speedway will have to wait one more day. Racing was rained out on Saturday evening after qualifying. The remainder of the racing program will begin at 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 27th at 6 p.m.
Thirty-six Modified teams were on hand for the T3 Series Tour event. All of the qualifying was completed with the exception of the second Modified consolation event. That event will start off the racing program on Sunday at 6 p.m.
Features remain for the Sportsman, Pure Stocks, Lightning Cats and Figure 8 divisions on Sunday. Fourteen qualifying events were completed in an hour on Saturday. Race officials hustled the program as quickly as possible hoping to beat the weather that would ultimately win out. Rain settled in and forced the postponement to Sunday at 6 p.m.
Anyone with a valid rain check will be admitted free on Sunday despite the fact that more than half of the racing program was completed on Saturday night. New teams are welcome to compete in the Sportsman, Pure Stock, Lightning Cat and Figure 8 divisions as they did not have full fields on Saturday evening. The Modified field is only open to teams that competed on Saturday per T3 Series rules.
