Fultonville, NY - After a less than stellar start to his 2008 campaign, 2006 Glen Ridge Modified track champion Randy Hotaling was looking for a little luck. 1 week after a hard crash in turn 1 on the start of the feature, Hotaling would return to victory lane at the Fultonville speed plant.
Joe Carnibucci and Hotaling would lead the field to the green flag in the 30 lap feature event. The field would quickly be slowed by a pair of cautions for a Bob Vedder spin and Shaun Pangman's 76p coming to a stop on the top of the backstretch. On the restart Tim Mayne and Jeff Sheely would make contact sending Sheely into the front stretch wall triggering a massive pile up. Sheely and Al McCoy's mounts would flip during the accident as pileup also claimed the cars of D.J. Falkner, K.C. McCoy, Richie Price, Jeff Brownell Jr, Dustin Purdy, Keith Shoemaker, and Floyd Billington. Shoemaker would continue on while Billington would rejoin the race late in the event.
As the field got back underway 2007 track champion Craig Hanson would charge up to the second spot quickly putting pressure on Hotaling but not finding enough to get by the Ballston Spa, NY pilot. A late race yellow would tighten the field once again as Erik Nelson and Jamike Sowle would make contact in turn 1 sending Sowle spinning. On the restart Hotaling would get the jump on Hanson taking the victory. Hanson would be second followed by Nelson, Sowle, and Bob Vedder.
Angela Hoard came into the Budget Sportsman event leading the points and would lead the field to the green flag with Robert Gray. Last weeks winner Jeremiah Munson would start the event behind Hoard in the third spot and would quickly make his way to the top spot but behind Munson the battle for second took shape. Hoard, Gray, John Contantino and Don Bellen would battle, often 3 wide for the position while Munson would pull out to a straight away lead. A yellow for the spun 96 of Andy Graves would erase Munson's lead but on the restart he would pull out to a straight away lead. Bellen using the top side of the speedway would take over the second spot and would get a shot at the leader as the yellow flew again for Graves, again erasing a straight away lead for Munson. On the start Munson would not be denied as he would cruise to his second straight victory and the points lead. Bellen would be second followed by Alex Alberti, Gray and Kory Wilder.
Sam Surnear and Cliff Haslun would bring the Stock Stocks to the green flag with Haslun jumping out to the early lead. Rob VanAernam would quickly move to the front passing Haslun from his fourth place starting spot. VanAernam's number 71 would suffer mechanical problems and drop out of the event. Dave Bayes would take over the top spot with Chuck McSpirit in tow. After an early spin Brian Cosselman was on the charge in his 2c mount making his way to the third spot with a handful laps to go. Meanwhile Bayes using the top side of the speedway would feel pressure from McSpirit using the bottom. Cosselman would take advantage sweeping around the outside of McSpirit to take the second spot. Bayes would hold on to the victory while Cosselman would edge out McSpirit by a bumper for second. Haslun would be fourth with Surnear rounding out the top 5.
Shawn Morrison and Jamie Warner would bring the field to the green flag in the Cruiser division. Warner would was no time getting to the front leading the early stages of the event. Back in the field Bobby Rhinehardt was on the move in his 618 using the high side of the speedway with last weeks winner Kerry Hollenbeck and Bruce Liddle in tow. Hollenbeck would move into the second position and set sail after Warner. Hollenbeck would pass Warner for the top spot, only to give it back as the yellow flew erasing his pass. On the restart Warner would hold off Hollenbeck momentarily but the 33k mount was to fast taking the top spot away. Hollenbeck would cruise to the victory followed by Warner, Liddle, Chris Andrew, and Rhinehardt.
