FONDA , NY – On Saturday evening at the Fonda Speedway the 360 Sprint feature was on the track when rain started to fall forcing the cancellation of the remainder of the racing program.

Justin Barger was in the lead on lap four of the 360 Sprint feature when the rain started to fall followed by Dan Kaszubinski. The remainder of the 360 Sprint feature will be made up later in the season on a date to be announced while the Modified, Sportsman, and Pro Stock features from this week will be first on the racing program next Saturday, May 3 followed by another full racing program in all divisions.

The IMCA and Street Stock feature events were run before the rain started to fall with Bob Banks Jr. the leader of the 20-lap IMCA feature at the drop of the green flag from his pole position start. By the time lap two was completed, Beau Ballard and Kevin Buff were running second and third after starting third and fourth respectively.

On lap four, Ballard ducked under Banks for the lead on the inside of turn four with Buff also getting by Banks for the second position. At that point in the event Jim and Jeremy Cramer were running side by side for the fourth position in a battle of the brothers that would last a couple of laps.

Jim Cramer was finally able to clear his brother and by lap seven was challenging Banks for the third position. The Cramer brothers both got by Banks for the third and fourth positions by lap eight while Buff was able to catch Ballard and start challenging him for the lead.

On the outside of turn four on lap 13, Buff swung around the outside of Ballard for the lead but one lap later Buff was sideways in turn four bringing out the one and only caution in the event and handing the lead back to Ballard. Jeremy Cramer got by his brother Jim for the second position on the restart while Jeff Jones, Aaron Jacobs, and Danny Ballard were running nose to tail and side by side at times for the fourth position.

Beau Ballard led the remaining laps to garner his first career win in the IMCA division at Fonda and was followed across the finish line by Jeremy Cramer, Jim Cramer, Danny Ballard, and Jones.

Pete Jeske led the first two laps of the 15-lap Street Stock feature from his pole position start while Dave Horning Sr. was making his way through the field after starting the event in the 18th position.

Horning Sr. was in the second position by the completion of lap two and one lap later on the backstretch he was able to take the lead away from Jeske with Luke Horning also getting by Jeske for the second spot after starting fifth.

Chuck McSpirit started the event in the 10th position and on lap six he made a three wide move on the backstretch around three cars for the third spot. By lap eight Horning was closing in on Horning Sr. as Horning was actually bump drafting Horning Sr. down the front straightaway.

On the inside of turn two on lap 12, Horning took the lead from Horning Sr. but that only lasted one lap as Horning drove into the pit area on lap 13 handing the lead back to Horning Sr. McSpirit started pressuring Horning Sr. for the lead shortly afterwards and on lap 14 he used the outside groove in turns three and four to take over the top spot which he would hold on to for the win, the third of his career at Fonda.

Horning Sr. came under the checkered flag sideways with last week’s winner Cassidy Wilson pushing him across the line while cars went around both sides of them to gain positions at the finish.

Neil Cosselman crossed the line in second followed by Horning Sr. who was in the Dave Horning Jr. #17, Eric Sbrega, and Wilson.

Next Saturday, May 3 the rained out Modified, Sportsman, and Pro Stock features will start the racing program followed by another full racing card in all divisions including the Budget Sportsman class. Starting time will be 6:00 p.m.
