Lance Dewease Maintains All-Star Points Lead After Up and Down Weekend.

FAYETTEVILLE, PA. –Lance Dewease and the Donnie Owens-owned No. 30c
Catoctin Motorsports race team maintained their points lead in the All
Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Car season, in spite of an up and
down weekend with races at Lernerville and Eldora.

Dewease went to Lernerville with a lead of over 100 points ahead of
nearest points rival Dale Blaney, hoping for a strong result. When the
team arrived, “we didn’t time trial real good,” reported Dewease, “but
we changed the car around and got it real nice.” The result of the
changes was a heat win, raising hopes for a strong finish in the
feature. In the A-Main, Dewease moved smoothly into the top five and
seemed headed for a good result before a tire problem relegated the
points leader to a disappointing sixth-place finish.

Saturday night, the team towed to Eldora Speedway, planning to capture
another top ten finish but the racing fates were against them. “We
just struggled the whole time with handling problems,” Dewease
reported. Those handling woes pestered Lance the whole day, as he
placed twentieth in time trials. His heat race was the highlight of
the evening, with a solid third place finish, one spot ahead of NASCAR
Sprint Cup Series driver Kasey Kahne, earning a spot in the O’Reilly
All-Star Dash.

In the feature race, “we got lapped early and just decided to get out
of the way,” Dewease said, adding: “we’re local at Williams Grove and
Lincoln this weekend. We’re going to put another car together and try
to get better.” In spite of Lance’s early dropout at Eldora, Dale
Blaney fell out even earlier with mechanical woes, allowing the point
spread to remain virtually the same as before.

Dewease leads Blaney by 116 points in ASCoC standings, with the next
race on the All-Star calendar slated for May 9 at Williams Grove
Speedway with some home cooking for the three-time Williams Grove Open
champion and the Catoctin Motorsports team.
